We all do something for our living, whether it's a job or a business. Many people prefer to go with a job, and some like to have their own business. No doubt, it's risky to start a new business as there are many ifs and buts. But there is no gain without risk. The bigger the risk, the bigger the profit. A job is for people who want a steady and risk-free earning source, but still, there is also a risk if you get fired. My brother and I are the first in our family to choose a job as our career path. My father was the owner of a dhaba (a restaurant), and after my father, my elder brother is taking care of the same.

Some people think a job is less risky compared to business, but in today's competitive work environment, it's not easy to get a job of our interest that pays well. I do not know about anywhere else, but in India, it's very hard. I know a business is not a cup of tea; that is the reason I chose to be a salaried person. Business requires investment and dedication, and it's risky as we do not know how it will perform in the near future. I have seen many businesses carried forward by children from their parents. It takes years to build a business, but once it's established, it provides support to many generations.

My father was a good businessman; he built his restaurant business from scratch and ran it for more than 20 years before handing it over to my brother. There were three partners, and they managed their work so nicely; I have never seen them arguing with each other on any business matter. For them, it must have been a big challenge during their startup days to start a business and then run it for decades. When I finished my diploma course, there was a gap before starting engineering studies. During that time, my brother and I started a computer center to support our family. It was not very fancy and had all basic requirements like internet and three personal computers. We were able to run it until we joined college and started engineering studies. When I compare the business we started with my father's business, we learned many things. For us, it was a side business, but for my father, it was the bread and butter for the family.
