Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wabarkathu.
Dear friends, I hope you are all well. I am very well and healthy by the grace of God.Today I would like to share with you something about the fact that self-satisfaction is a great virtue that makes people always happy.Welcome to this post and congratulations to all of you.
Certainly, I can provide a brief discussion of the topic in the context of Quranic and Hadith teachings.
Self-satisfaction is often regarded as a key to happiness in various philosophical and religious traditions, including Islam. It can be defined as the contentment and peace one feels with oneself, irrespective of external circumstances or the pursuit of materialistic desires. In the context of Quranic teachings and Hadith, self-satisfaction is indeed emphasized as a source of profound and lasting happiness.
Contentment in the Quran:
The Quran, the holy book of Islam, frequently mentions the concept of contentment and satisfaction as a virtue. One of the most famous verses that highlights the importance of contentment is in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:216): "But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not." This verse encourages believers to trust in the wisdom of Allah's plan and be content with His decree, even if it's different from their own desires.
Surah Ar-Rad (13:28) also underscores the idea of contentment: "Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." In this context, the remembrance of Allah is seen as a means to find inner peace and contentment.
Hadith on Self-Satisfaction:
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) provided numerous Hadiths that emphasize self-satisfaction as a source of happiness. For instance, he said, "Richness is not having many possessions. Rather, true richness is the richness of the soul." This Hadith underscores that material wealth is not the primary source of contentment and happiness but rather a rich soul.
Another Hadith highlights the importance of being content with what one has: "Look at those who are below you and do not look at those above you, for it is more suitable that you should not consider as less the blessing of Allah." This Hadith encourages believers to count their blessings and be content with their circumstances, as there will always be others with less.
Striking a Balance:
While self-satisfaction is encouraged in Islam, it is essential to strike a balance. Islam does not advocate complacency or apathy. Muslims are encouraged to work hard and strive for excellence, but at the same time, they should maintain inner contentment and not let worldly desires or comparisons with others lead to unhappiness.
The Quran acknowledges the importance of striving and working diligently. In Surah Al-Isra (17:19), it is stated, "And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds." This verse highlights the idea that our efforts and striving should primarily benefit ourselves and our self-improvement.
In the light of Quranic teachings and Hadith, self-satisfaction is indeed considered a source of happiness. Islam encourages believers to be content with their circumstances, trust in Allah's plan, and find inner peace. However, this does not mean avoiding hard work or ambition. The balance lies in working diligently while maintaining a content and satisfied heart. By doing so, individuals can experience true and lasting happiness, which is not solely dependent on external possessions or circumstances but is deeply rooted in their relationship with Allah and their inner state of contentment.
