Recently, the BCCI has recommended to the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for former right-arm off-spin bowler Ramesh Powar for the new head coach for the Indian women's team.

BCCI has received total 35 applications include with Ramesh Powar and current coach WV Raman for the Indian women's cricket head coach, BCCI has shortlisted 6 candidates. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) selected Ramesh Powar for this position, considering the successful Mumbai team led by Ramesh Powar in the Vijay Hazare League. Ramesh Powar was earlier in charge of the women's team from July 2018 to November 2018 and reached the semi-finals of the Indian women's cricket T20 World Cup under his leadership, but the team's selection was in dispute in the semi-final match against England, and the team lost the semi-final match after that Ramesh Powar lost his position.

The upcoming India Women England tour will start from June 16 to July 15, where India Women will play 1 Test match with England, 3 matches of ODI series, and 3 matches of T20I, Test match from June 16 to 19 will be played at County Ground Bristol, the first ODI series will be played on 27 June at County Ground, Bristol, the second match will be played at The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton on 30 June, and the third and last match will be played on 3 July at New Road, Worcester. The ODI series is to be followed by the T20I series, the first match of the T20I series will be played on July 9 at County Ground, Northampton, the second match on July 11 at County Ground, Hove, and the third and last match on July 15 at County Ground, Chelmsford. We will be seen how successful the team is under the leadership of Ramesh Powar.

The 48-year-old Ramesh Powar played the first Test match of his career against Bangladesh on 18 May 2007 and the last Test match against Bangladesh on 25 May 2007, during which he played only 2 Test matches scored only 13 runs, and took 6 wickets. He played the first ODI match against Pakistan on 16 March 2004, and last ODI match against Australia on 2 October, during this period, scored 163 runs in 31 ODI matches and took 34 wickets, the first IPL match played against Delhi Capitals on 17 May, and last IPL match against Deccan Chargers on 8 May 2012, scored 67 runs in 27 matches and took 13 wickets.
