OpenAI’s GPT-4 the Next Step in Artificial Intelligence

I have written at length about the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to change the way we live, work and play. AI is going to re-write the way we interact with the world and each other. Recently, OpenAI released the next generation AI platform called “GPT-4” that is one level above GPT-3.5 which powers ChatGPT. With the amazing leap forward in AI chat bot performance and automation, GPT-4 will propel human endeavors as a powerful tool.

OpenAI’s chat bot, ChatGPT, has been in the news for its ability to answer questions and portray itself as human. ChatGPT was challenged by Microsoft to perform on an AP Biology examination, and it passed. This impressed Bill Gates, who has invested into OpenAI for years, as the information on the test requires synthesis of information and not just regurgitation of facts.

OpenAI’s next generation AI has been released and it’s the next step in chat bot development. GPT-4 is a platform on which AI applications can be created. ChatGPT (GPT-3.5) is a chat bot application that can be utilized to create content and interact with humans. GPT-4 is being used to create computer code and programs, automate processes, streamline interactions and more. ChatGPT has been integrated into Microsoft products primarily to function in a customer service role and the next generation of AI programs built on GPT-4 will fill many more roles.

Chat bots use the information on the internet to create art, chat and other products that can be very beneficial to humans. ChatGPT has the ability to synthesize information it finds using the internet as a source. GPT-4 can create more tangible products, and is analogous to a toolbox that can help people develop their own applications with wide-reaching possibilities. I am excited to see engineers fix supply-chain issues using AI technology and use this platform to help solve many of the world’s problems. GPT-4 could help alleviate hunger, design better communication medium, solve inflationary pressures caused by inefficiencies and more.

GPT-4 as a platform is exciting. While GPT-3.5 based ChatGPT has performed and has been embraced by software giant Microsoft and is being powered by hardware companies including Broadcom, GPT-4 is opening a world of possibilities. GPT-4 is being used by individuals and companies to build custom websites and targeted legal paperwork. It is very possible that GPT-4 will replace many human functions from web design to certain contract jobs and supply-chain management positions. This is an exciting and innovative innovation I will be watching closely.
