Ramayan is a Hindu epic poem that tells the story of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is one of the two major Hindu epics, the other being the Mahabharata. The Ramayan was written by the sage Valmiki, and it is considered one of the most important works of ancient Indian literature.

The Ramayan tells the story of Lord Rama, who is exiled from his kingdom of Ayodhya by his father, King Dasharatha, at the request of his stepmother, Kaikeyi. Rama's wife, Sita, accompanies him into the forest, where they are joined by Rama's brother, Lakshmana.

While in the forest, Sita is kidnapped by the demon king Ravana, who takes her to his kingdom of Lanka. Rama and Lakshmana then set out to rescue Sita, and with the help of the monkey king Hanuman and his army of monkeys, they are able to defeat Ravana and rescue Sita.

After returning to Ayodhya, Rama is crowned as the king of Ayodhya and he rules the kingdom with justice and compassion. The Ramayan is not only a tale of adventure and heroism, but it also conveys important messages about the importance of dharma (righteousness), loyalty, and sacrifice. The Ramayan continues to be an important part of Hindu culture and is often recited during religious ceremonies and festivals.
