Today's question is very controversial, my reason is because of individual differences. It will surprise you that even most Christians cannot answer this...
Matt.16.13 - When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Matt.16.14 - And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
Matt.16.15 - He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matt.16.16 - And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matt.16.17 - And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Matt.16.18 - And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matt.16.19 - And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Matt.16.20 - Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Jesus and his disciples traveled to Caesarea Philippi. This area was a mostly Gentile region. Notably, it was a region of many, conflicting deities. Around almost every corner was a temple or altar to a different false god. This was the supposed birthplace of the god, Pan. It was also a center for Syrian Baal worship and for Caesar worship, boasting a large marble head of Caesar as an altar for prayer.
Caesarea Philippi was the world’s stage, and against this backdrop, Jesus asks his disciples who people claim him to be. Some people saw Jesus as a herald of repentance like John the Baptist. Others, a worker of miracles like Elijah, or a spokesperson for God like Jeremiah and the prophets. These are all underestimations of the power of Jesus.

They tried to put him in a box and categorize him by what they had seen in the past. However, Jesus cannot be compared to any man who has ever walked the earth because he was and is more than a man. Being fully human, he is also fully God. This was something the world had never experienced before, and many missed it because it was too unrecognizable from what they had known.
Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
I never want to miss what God is doing simply because it hasn’t been done before. May our souls always recognize the movement of God. May we always recognize the voice of our Savior and Good Shepherd so that we never miss his call.
Jesus asked Peter a question we all must answer for ourselves,
“Who do you say that I am?”
Today, in a world filled with idols cleverly disguised as goals, ambitions, and possessions, may the cacophony of their false narratives be drowned out by the truth of our Savior. We all must decide who Jesus is to us. Is he simply a prophet or a good teacher? Do we dismiss his miracles as propaganda, or do we believe them to be a manifestation of his divinity? If he truly spoke the word of God, do we listen?
These are all questions we have to answer, and the answer will completely transform our lives. If Jesus is the Christ, if he is the Messiah who came to change the world and set men free, we can’t resist following.
The world’s offerings are all around us. There is a never-ending table of options for us to believe in. The choice in ours. Whom will you choose?

Mat.16.20 - Entonces mandó a sus discípulos que no dijesen a nadie que él era Jesús el Cristo.

Jesús y sus discípulos viajaron a Cesarea de Filipo. Esta área era una región mayoritariamente gentil. En particular, era una región de muchas deidades en conflicto. A la vuelta de casi cada esquina había un templo o altar a un dios falso diferente. Este era el supuesto lugar de nacimiento del dios Pan. También fue un centro para el culto sirio a Baal y para el culto a César, con una gran cabeza de mármol de César como altar para la oración.
Cesarea de Filipo fue el escenario del mundo, y en este contexto, Jesús pregunta a sus discípulos quién dice la gente que es él. Algunas personas vieron a Jesús como un heraldo de arrepentimiento como Juan el Bautista. Otros, obrador de milagros como Elías, o vocero de Dios como Jeremías y los profetas. Todas estas son subestimaciones del poder de Jesús.

Intentaron ponerlo en una caja y categorizarlo por lo que habían visto en el pasado. Sin embargo, Jesús no puede compararse con ningún hombre que haya pisado la tierra porque él era y es más que un hombre. Siendo completamente humano, también es completamente Dios. Esto era algo que el mundo nunca había experimentado antes, y muchos se lo perdieron porque era demasiado irreconocible de lo que habían conocido.
Isaías 43:18-19 dice: “Olvidaos de las cosas pasadas; no te detengas en el pasado. ¡Mira, estoy haciendo algo nuevo! Ahora brota; no lo percibes? Voy a abrir un camino en el desierto y arroyos en la tierra baldía”.
Nunca quiero perderme lo que Dios está haciendo simplemente porque no se ha hecho antes. Que nuestras almas reconozcan siempre el movimiento de Dios. Que siempre reconozcamos la voz de nuestro Salvador y Buen Pastor para que nunca perdamos su llamado.
Jesús le hizo a Pedro una pregunta que todos debemos responder por nosotros mismos,
“¿Quién dices que soy?”
Hoy, en un mundo lleno de ídolos hábilmente disfrazados de metas, ambiciones y posesiones, que la cacofonía de sus falsas narrativas sea ahogada por la verdad de nuestro Salvador. Todos debemos decidir quién es Jesús para nosotros. ¿Es simplemente un profeta o un buen maestro? ¿Descartamos sus milagros como propaganda, o creemos que son una manifestación de su divinidad? Si verdaderamente habló la palabra de Dios, ¿le escuchamos?
Todas estas son preguntas que tenemos que responder, y la respuesta transformará por completo nuestras vidas. Si Jesús es el Cristo, si es el Mesías que vino a cambiar el mundo y a liberar a los hombres, no podemos resistirnos a seguirlo.
Las ofertas del mundo están a nuestro alrededor. Hay una tabla interminable de opciones en las que creer. La elección en la nuestra. ¿A quién elegirás?
