Matt.11.20 - Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.
Matt.11.21 - "Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
Matt.11.22 - But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
Matt.11.23 - And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.
Matt.11.24 - But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you."(Matthew 11:20-24).

John noted,
“But there are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” (John 21:25)
We don’t know what miracles Jesus performed in Chorazin, Bethsaida, or Capernaum. We do know that today’s reading tells us Jesus did “most of his mighty works” in these cities. Despite this, we read that the people of these cities refused to repent. They were given the greatest revelation of God through His Son, Jesus, and still they ignored the truth before their eyes.
Jesus compares the people who rejected him to the people of the well-known wicked cities of Tyre, Sidon, and Sodom. Unfortunately, in Jesus’ comparison, the wicked cities of old fared much better.
Those who are given a greater revelation of God are also given a greater level of accountability. At the end of this world, we must all give an explanation of our lives. This is the judgment we all face. Thankfully, God is a righteous judge. He does not measure us with an unfair measuring stick. We are not accountable for what was given to our neighbors. We will be judged by the opportunities we had.
This is why Jesus claims,
“It shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.” (verse 24)
The people of Sodom will answer for the sin they embraced during their lifetime; however, the people of cities that rejected the Christ will suffer more. As William Barclay explained, “These cities did not attack Jesus Christ; they did not drive him from their gates; they did not seek to crucify him; they simply disregarded him. Neglect can kill as much as persecution can.” Let that be a warning to all of us.
We who have seen the good things of God and do not respond to them will be judged more wicked then those who rejoiced in the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah. Let that truly sink in.
Each of us who have heard the gospel will have to tell God what we did with it. The greater our calling, the more our responsibility is to walk by faith. Simply ignoring the Lord and disregarding the pulling of our heart to share our gifts and talents in the furtherance of His kingdom does not let us off the hook. We have a responsibility to be used. We are accountable for our response to the information we have.
The greater our understanding grows, the greater that responsibility grows. The person who knows the good they ought to do and refuses to do it commits a grave sin (James 4:17). Let us brush off our apathy. Let us pay attention to what God is doing all around us. Ignoring His call is just as grave as denying Him.

Mat.11.20 - Entonces Jesús comenzó a denunciar a las ciudades en las que se habían realizado la mayoría de sus milagros, porque no se arrepentían.

Juan señaló,
“Pero hay también muchas otras cosas que hizo Jesús; si cada uno de ellos se escribiera, supongo que el mundo mismo no podría contener los libros que se escribirían.” (Juan 21:25)
No sabemos qué milagros realizó Jesús en Corazín, Betsaida o Cafarnaúm. Sabemos que la lectura de hoy nos dice que Jesús hizo “la mayoría de sus milagros” en estas ciudades. A pesar de esto, leemos que la gente de estas ciudades rehusó arrepentirse. Recibieron la mayor revelación de Dios a través de Su Hijo, Jesús, y aun así ignoraron la verdad ante sus ojos.
Jesús compara a la gente que lo rechazó con la gente de las conocidas ciudades malvadas de Tiro, Sidón y Sodoma. Desafortunadamente, en comparación con Jesús, a las ciudades inicuas de la antigüedad les fue mucho mejor.
Aquellos a quienes se les da una mayor revelación de Dios también se les da un mayor nivel de responsabilidad. Al final de este mundo, todos debemos dar una explicación de nuestra vida. Este es el juicio que todos enfrentamos. Afortunadamente, Dios es un juez justo. Él no nos mide con una vara de medir injusta. No somos responsables de lo que se le dio a nuestros vecinos. Seremos juzgados por las oportunidades que tuvimos.
Por eso Jesús afirma,
“Será más tolerable en el día del juicio para la tierra de Sodoma que para ti”. (verso 24)
La gente de Sodoma responderá por el pecado que abrazaron durante su vida; sin embargo, la gente de las ciudades que rechazaron a Cristo sufrirá más. Como explicó William Barclay, “Estas ciudades no atacaron a Jesucristo; no lo echaron de sus puertas; no buscaron crucificarlo; simplemente lo ignoraron. La negligencia puede matar tanto como la persecución”. Que sea una advertencia para todos nosotros.
Nosotros, que hemos visto las cosas buenas de Dios y no respondemos a ellas, seremos juzgados más malvados que aquellos que se regocijaron en los pecados de Sodoma y Gomorra. Deja que eso realmente se hunda.
Cada uno de los que hemos escuchado el evangelio tendremos que decirle a Dios lo que hicimos con él. Cuanto mayor sea nuestro llamado, mayor será nuestra responsabilidad de caminar por fe. Simplemente ignorar al Señor y no tener en cuenta el impulso de nuestro corazón para compartir nuestros dones y talentos en el avance de Su reino no nos libera del apuro. Tenemos la responsabilidad de ser utilizados. Somos responsables de nuestra respuesta a la información que tenemos.
Cuanto mayor crece nuestra comprensión, mayor crece la responsabilidad. La persona que sabe el bien que debe hacer y se niega a hacerlo comete un pecado grave (Santiago 4:17). Dejemos de lado nuestra apatía. Prestemos atención a lo que Dios está haciendo a nuestro alrededor. Ignorar Su llamado es tan grave como negarlo.
