The Power of Unbelief|| El poder de la incredulidad [ENG-ESP]

Matt.13.53 - And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.
Matt.13.54 - And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
Matt.13.55 - Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
Matt.13.56 - And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
Matt.13.57 - And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
Matt.13.58 - And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Jesus performed powerful miracles and taught in ways that challenged all who gathered to listen to his teachings. Everywhere he went, the sick were healed, the blind received sight, those in bondage were freed. Everywhere that is except his hometown. This led to Jesus declaring,

Because of this unbelief, we are told that Jesus did not do many miracles. Charles Finney once defined unbelief as: “Instances in which you have virtually charged the God of truth with lying, by your unbelief of His express promises and declarations.”

Unbelief hinders growth, destroys courage, and wilts God’s blessings before they have the chance to bloom. Doubt is the tool by which Satan immobilizes God’s army, but it is unbelief that destroys us. When we entertain the notion that God can lie, all is lost. The people of Jesus’ hometown were too familiar with Jesus the man, the son, and the brother.

They could not look past the natural to see the supernatural deity standing before them. How often do we do the same thing? If we believe things will always be the way they have always been, what is the motivation for faith?

Faith requires a supernatural belief. To believe in the power of God, we must believe He took on flesh and was born of a virgin. We must accept that everything our senses can perceive was created at the hand of a God who spoke them into being. We must have faith that nothing exists outside of God’s control and that even the natural elements and laws bend to His will. When we accept all of that, everything becomes possible. Miracles exist all around us. Do we limit our experiences with them because of our familiarity with the methods God uses?

Have we somehow convinced ourselves that miracles don’t happen unless the ground shakes and an angelic choir bursts through our door, or are we open to God using unlikely candidates to bring about His will? If faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains, imagine what doubt can do.

Matt.13.54 - Y cuando llegó a su propia tierra, les enseñaba en la sinagoga de ellos, de tal manera que se asombraban y decían: ¿De dónde tiene este hombre esta sabiduría y estos milagros?
Matt.13.55 - ¿No es este el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María? y sus hermanos, Santiago, José, Simón y Judas?
Matt.13.56 - Y sus hermanas, ¿no están todas con nosotros? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene este hombre todas estas cosas?
Matt.13.57 - Y se ofendieron en él. Pero Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su propia tierra y en su propia casa.
Matt.13.58 - Y no hizo allí muchos milagros a causa de la incredulidad de ellos.

Jesús realizó poderosos milagros y enseñó de una manera que desafió a todos los que se reunieron para escuchar sus enseñanzas. Por dondequiera que iba, los enfermos eran sanados, los ciegos recobraban la vista, los cautivos eran liberados. En todas partes, excepto en su ciudad natal. Esto llevó a Jesús a declarar:

Debido a esta incredulidad, se nos dice que Jesús no hizo muchos milagros. Charles Finney una vez definió la incredulidad como: “Casos en los que virtualmente has acusado al Dios de la verdad de mentir, por tu incredulidad en Sus promesas y declaraciones expresas”.

La incredulidad impide el crecimiento, destruye el valor y marchita las bendiciones de Dios antes de que tengan la oportunidad de florecer. La duda es la herramienta por la cual Satanás inmoviliza al ejército de Dios, pero es la incredulidad la que nos destruye. Cuando abrigamos la idea de que Dios puede mentir, todo está perdido. La gente del pueblo natal de Jesús estaba demasiado familiarizada con Jesús el hombre, el hijo y el hermano.

No podían mirar más allá de lo natural para ver a la deidad sobrenatural ante ellos. ¿Con qué frecuencia hacemos lo mismo? Si creemos que las cosas siempre serán como siempre han sido, ¿cuál es la motivación para la fe?

La fe requiere una creencia sobrenatural. Para creer en el poder de Dios, debemos creer que Él se hizo carne y nació de una virgen. Debemos aceptar que todo lo que nuestros sentidos pueden percibir fue creado por la mano de un Dios que habló para que existieran. Debemos tener fe en que nada existe fuera del control de Dios y que incluso los elementos naturales y las leyes se doblegan a Su voluntad. Cuando aceptamos todo eso, todo se vuelve posible. Los milagros existen a nuestro alrededor. ¿Limitamos nuestras experiencias con ellos debido a nuestra familiaridad con los métodos que usa Dios?

¿Nos hemos convencido de alguna manera de que los milagros no suceden a menos que la tierra tiemble y un coro angelical irrumpa en nuestra puerta, o estamos abiertos a que Dios use candidatos poco probables para hacer Su voluntad? Si la fe del tamaño de un grano de mostaza puede mover montañas, imagina lo que puede hacer la duda.
