Nigeria education is structured in manner that a person is refine both Academically, Morally, Socially and otherwise. Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits, and personal development. Educational methods include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion and directed research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators; however, learners can also educate themselves. Education can take place in formal or informal settings, and any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. Educational Structure
The Nigerian Education system is not far from the above define, it is plan systematically to be able to cross examine all parts of human life. Basically, we have three (3) stage in the Nigerian Academic structure, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary, for the sake of knowledge I will include the nursery which is fundamental for every child.
Although, the journey begins at the age of five years, but most often counted as plus, at this age a child is assume due to enroll in daycare, by birth the child is still an amoral who can barely differentiate good and bad. It is vital and advisable that the child should mingle with other children to aid understand some differences. In nursery, the child is being taught how to recite alphabet and numbers to prepare them ahead, so that they will be conversant with common domestic words. This initial stage prepare their brains for learning.
Firstly, it is compulsory that every pupil to undergo six years of learning in primary, at this stage the pupil is able to recognize and differentiate words, alphabets, numbers and words, with the flexibility of tongue which he can freely be able to pronounce words also can probably be taught how to make good sentence, read and partially to write. This stage is very vital in the life of every child growing, at any point the parent, guardian fails in his/her responsibility to enroll his ward in elementary school decide to start from the secondary such child finds it difficult to cope. it takes longer time to catch up with others. Some people reading this are victims of such circumstance maybe as a result of financial instability which is common in our African society especially in Nigeria where I am from.
Secondly, it also compulsory for one to spend another six years in secondary. Both process of learning is consider to be a foundation to prepare you to have a good insight of the secondary process at this junction it is assume you can make sentence, read, understand and also write, not as though they can't in the previous class they can with limitations, they can write what they have been taught in class not general writing. At this point your are now open to cross examination on how to read, construct sentence on your own which is expected at that point you should be able to, apart from that, understanding the ambiguity of sentence and statement, calculation and general studies. It takes six years to complete this process.
Tertiary Institution
This stage is considered to be a higher institution of learning not like the rest, here the certificate is awarded in character and in learning, which implies That; any form of misbehaviour will be counted as minus to your grade or if you are caught wanting. The number of years you spend in the higher institution depends on the course you're reading but the minimum for degree programs is four years in the University, five years for other science courses and for medicine six years some other professional courses. We also have other tertiary Institution like polytechnic, college of education, where you spend lesser years studying especially for those who want to be professional teachers, you spend two to three years as the case might be. At the point of completion, it is mandatory that you carry-out a research work on any topic of your choice under a strict supervision by any lecturer delegated to supervise the Academic work with grade awarded at the end of the research, the marks awarded form the major part of your final continuous assessment scores. A certify document is issued to you as an evidence the you were once part and parcel of the institution and you have been examine and certified graduate to work in any organization that request for your knowledge. After all, every graduate is expected to undergo one full year compulsory service to the country, every graduate is posted to different parts of the country to help serve the country, exception of the married women it is advisable for them not since she engaged but some of them still insist on participating due to the harsh economy situation of the country because every graduate on the scheme is paid #33,000 at the end of the month for one year, which is estimated to $60 USD for up keep at the end of the compulsory one year you are given an National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to enable you to work anywhere not just in the country but anywhere around the world.
