The final match of the ICC T20 world cup 2021 was played between Australia vs Newzealand yesterday at Dubai international cricket stadium. Australia defeated Newzealand by 8 wickets and become the T20 champion for the first time though they have already won 5 one day format world cup trophy which is the biggest tournament in cricket.
Australia won the toss and invited Newzealand to bat first. Newzealand had a slow start. Kiwi opener Daryl Mitchell has gone for 11 runs. Then skipper Kane Williamson came out and made 48 runs partnership with Martin Guptill. Guptill played a slow innings and gone for 28 runs in 35 balls. Williamson again made 68 runs big partnership just in 6.1 overs with Glenn Phillips. Phillips scored 18 runs but Williamson played an outstanding innings of 85 runs in 48 balls including 10 fours and 3 sixes. Finally Newzealand scored total 172 runs by 4 wickets.
Aussie bowlers performed well. Josh Hazlewood has performed brilliantly and picked up 3 wickets for only 16 runs in 4 overs. Adam Zampa took one wicket.
In reply Aussie opener Aaron Finch has gone for only 5 runs. Aussie all rounder Mitchell Marsh came out and made 92 runs big partnership with David Warner. Warner scored 53 runs in 38 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes. After Warner's wicket Glenn Maxwell came out and made 66 runs unbeaten partnership with Mitchell Marsh. Glenn Maxwell scored 28 runs in 18 balls including 4 fours and a six. Mitchell Marsh played a great innings of 77 runs in 50 balls including 6 fours and 4 sixes.
Kiwi bowlers have no significant performance except Trent Boult picked up two wickets for 18 runs in 4 over. Mitchell Marsh was player of the match for his unbeaten match winning innings. David Warner was player of the tournament.
