1.0 Introduction

Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives. In the process, people usually recognize that the source of that goodness lies at least partially outside themselves. As a result, being grateful also helps people connect to something larger than themselves as individuals — whether to other people, nature, or a higher power.

There is a universal conception about each holiday season which comes with high expectations for a cozy and festive time of year. However, for many this time of year is tinged with sadness, anxiety, or depression. Certainly, major depression or a severe anxiety disorder benefits most from seeking professional help. But what about those who just feel lost or overwhelmed or down at this time of year? Those who don’t have hope to celebrate the season with friends and family?

Today’s write-up will be focus on the need to say THANK YOU on a favor received. I shall try to be precise as possible.

2.0 An Unexpected 100blurts

Gratitude draws benefits and a benefactor
ought to be reminder !
It was a windy day down the selagi mountains. I was sitting with my little kids and some old woman telling them about the power of change and what civilization does to a place. I was also watching the welder fabricate doors for my school using old abandoned iron door frames . With a phone on the hand , I decided to make a quick open on the web , as blurt makes me check my phone every other hour . It was a notification from blurt that I was credited 100blurts . At first I thought it was a mistake, I quickly rang @bestkizito “ hello bro , I see a top up on my account , did you do that ? He smiled and said no , but check the details it will always be there .

My network was poor as I often use a repeater to draw network for my phone since we don’t have any network mask close by . Nature has made it that around certain trees and positions within the village you will find call bars to either browse or make call . I struggled through , got the page opened and a closer look made me understand that the gift was received from @blurtbot …I wondered, but smiled and said blurt…gifted me 100blurts ? What a gift ! This was to encourage me to keep writing .

The season of giving I immediately thought about the special season of Christmas which is the season of giving . We recall in a profound manner, the gift of God to humanity even when no one expected it ; the writings of old had foretold the birth of a child. A Virgin shall conceive and bear a son , you shall call him Emmanuel cf Is 7:4. The New Testament also echoes the act of giving when it said “ for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not die but have everlasting life “. This gift was not compared on God , it was out of pure love for man kind that God offered his Son .
It was out of pure love to encourage content that @blurtbot gifted me those blurts . Not when I expected anything of such .
As humans, it is great to give back to people ! People who cannot pay us back for our generosity.
As humans it is great to reach out especially when no one expects .
Look at the streets and see how many people are there , the street of Africa liters with humans created in the image and likeness of God ,who struggle for the next meal ! Africa is the only place that you are not sure of the next days meal! It is popularly said that “rights in Africa have becomes privileges” ( what a pitiable belief). When you have food on your table, it is enough reason to jump in praise ; for many it’s a miracle .
This lavished generosity by blurtbot really challenged me . It’s a wake up call to even do more, to extend that love to those who are in dare need of it. So, I began to call my Christmas gifts to people as 100blurts .

For every act of kindness shown, I referred it as 100blurts . From the church premises where most people gather to the neighborhood and somewhat my far Neigbour’s I made them understand that we have a special blurt giving season . Fr is dashing 100blurts that was the news everywhere. Folks around my area know how to call blurt . They might not know the deep meaning of the word , but they understand that blurt is charity
Blurt is an unexpected gift
Blurt is kindness shown
Simply put , blurt is to give life to a hopeless situation.

Am glad that they are learning fast ! Blurt has a way now in my village to communicate powerful actions that are capable of changing a life story .
I decided to make a post about this to remind many who are yet to reach out to do so .
Many here are already doing that , in continents and places that their generations won’t even visit . Yet they do so for the sake of pure love and sympathy for humanity. Never give up or stop doing good !

3.0 Conclusion

The benefits of practicing gratitude are nearly endless. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they're thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems.

B9DFBC8F-F55D-4921-8164-774861785D6E.jpeg

Finally, gratitude is a way for people to appreciate what they have instead of always reaching for something new in the hopes it will make them happier or thinking they can't feel satisfied until every physical and material need is met. Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack. And, although it may feel contrived at first, this mental state grows stronger with use and practice. The onus lies upon us to reach out unexpectedly during this season and beyond. As a family, we shall never get tired of doing what is right, that is, putting everlasting smiles on the faces of all human race. Happy Holidays.

Thanks so much for your kind words on me !
I believe that is our call , to do the best we can to a people who for no fault of theirs are born into very poor communities and families . No one chooses to be born where they are ! If birth place was a choice, many persons would have avoided poor places and regions!
I love blurt because we have many persons who are championing the cause to reduce poverty rate around the world .

In addition to anxiety and depression I was sad to hear this time of year is filled with acts of family violence, I heard this on the radio today and thought that some of us who have easier lives and complian about the shops being busy or not being able to find a specific out of stock item, just need to think how many families are struggling with serious issues.

Today I pray for the families of the world to know peace and be uplifted from their physical and emotional hardships.

@megadrive Rights in the world has become privileges in Africa. At times, the inhuman conditions most families undergo is not just worrisome but equally calls for a rethink on our very purpose of existence as to whether life is worth living or not. Today, Insecurity and violence of all kinds are on the increase and major causative factor is “poverty”.
Some of these violences are simply consequences of the poverty in the land . Workers have not been paid for months , some have been false-fully and unjustly retired without any Pension scheme or benefits. The poverty in the land is uncontrollably on increase without mitigative efforts in sight.

To reduce the anger of the unemployed and unemployable people in my area, I had to do a massive out reach with my farm produce, knocking on their doors and leaving them with little yams, garri, rice, and condiments and a few others ! I also had to gather some items and give as Christmas gifts like clothes , but what can a poor priest like me do to an intimidating population soaked in poverty?
When I hear people like you pray and sympathize with our situation , and above all your desire that things get better as prayers ;
I think of the poor in my community (where i stay ) who do not have access to good medical care. No hospital , talk more of thinking about a health insurance. ! My community does not have !

I think about the broken wood bridges and how human efforts must be applied to transport agricultural products to the nearest town and sell at the cheapest rate ever ! Then they trek back home and fall ill due to stress and the money turns to nothing .
If they must have medical care, then their life saving must be used !

I pray and look forward to blurt community to assist by making provision for a clinic or a hospital for this poor community some day . THAT HOSPITAL WILL BE CALLED BLURT HOSPITAL FOR HUMANITY “ I am determined to begin a small structure to that effect next year , no matter how small it might look i am sure they will be thankful .

The call to help and extend sympathies to the vulnerable poor is one that cannot be overlooked .
We hope for better days ,weeks, months, and years ahead . Once life is intact , hope can never we waved off!

Awesome One Padre. “If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get.”
Keep soaring higher, as the Lord is your strength. Hotter Anointing fall on you as you continue your service for humanity!

You are right . I agree with you totally ! We ought to be thankful and extend that graciousness to others . Thanks @tinashiyoga

Yes, gratitude is a very big issue for me. I live in Germany and here it is completely normal to have water and electricity in the house.
We have compulsory education, which means that every child gets an education. We have a good health system, everyone has health insurance. And many of us still have money left over to go travelling.
And as for my generation: we have never experienced war and hunger.
Much of this is completely normal and taken for granted.
But we should all be grateful for it.
I am. I know exactly what a great country I was born in.
Of course, there is poverty and injustice here too, but it is in no way comparable to African countries, for example.
I am very very grateful.....

I love your analysis! I agree with you no less !
I had a conversation with a friend who is in the US and I told him , it’s very easy to lose sight of God and focus in a country where everything seem so easy to access . In Africa what people pray for is a normal in a civilized country hence they don’t have a need of praying for that !
In the Germany just as you said education , good health and other stuffs are a normal ; these ain’t so in Africa.
We hope to someday get to that where you people are !
I am very grateful too !

I find it sad that in 2021 there is still so much poverty that not all people have enough to eat. Although sad is the wrong word.
I am angry and I think people are really no different than in the Middle Ages. War, hunger, enrichment... some don't know what to do with all their money, but want to become even richer, and others don't even have the bare necessities of life and are exploited.
There is enough for everyone, it just needs to be distributed better.....but unfortunately egoism and hunger for power still win.

That’s it ! Well said and captured. Egoism , tribalism , nepotism and other useless sentiments have overtaken the polity .
Our leaders have becomes lords to lord it over the masses . The interest of the common man is a long buried and forgotten story .
It has become a wrong thinking of “ when it’s your time to rule, you do it the way you want “! The story is sad , in fact it’s one that angers so many as you earlier put it!
Many whose voices can hardly be heard !
Many whose impact can hardly be know except where the favour is received. Until there’s a change in mentality and a strong revolution, Nigeria will remain the same and so it is in most African countries. We share same stories of
Poverty, Corruption, Greed.

We pray and hope for a new generation to put an end to this monster .

I don't think people will ever change.
They are often not even capable of dealing with each other peacefully and in love, even in small communities like the family...

Tis the Season for giving.

Thank you for sharing how important it is that we should always be grateful for what we already have.

Sometimes we forget that the little things that we have turned out to be a dream for some people to have them.

You are right ! I agree totally
