Rome - Juventus officially sentenced to a deduction of 15 points. The Italian giants were sanctioned in cases of falsifying transfer fees and capital gains.
This sanction was handed down by the Federal Court of Appeal in a hearing in Rome, Friday (20/1/2023), after receiving a request by the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) prosecutor to reopen the sports trial against Juventus. FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chine initially demanded that the Federal Court of Appeal reopen the investigation into Juve, following new evidence.
Prosecutor Giuseppe Chine demanded that Juventus be punished with a nine-point deduction. The Federal Court of Appeal then decided to accept the demand and imposed a more severe sanction, namely a 15-point deduction, and acquitted the other clubs.
Juventus deny these charges and are expected to appeal, which can be done through CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee). This 15-point deduction penalty made Juventus drop to 10th place with 22 points.
