LOST BUT FOUND
It was in mid-July when our nursing community practice posting list was released. And I left home for a three months community practice at Vandeikya, in Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria, having been posted there.
On reaching the General hospital at Vandeikya, I and my mates -who had been posted there too- arranged our belongings in the apartment at the staff quarters which had been prepared for us by the hospital management, and we were already expressing how filled we were with energy to work.

After a few weeks of a thrilling experience and struggle adjusting to a new environment, we decided on a blissful evening to take a walk to get a view of the mountainous nature we had been hearing about of Vandeikya. We (I and one of My Colleague) left the quarters without informing our other colleagues since we assumed we won't be going far or staying out long. Fortunately, or unfortunately, our walk extended to farther coasts, because we were completely carried away by the beautiful and picturesque things we beheld. Guess what... we very suddenly jolted back to consciousness of the fact we must be on our way back to our quarters, and... We had absolutely no idea where we were. I pulled out my phone immediately with swift movements of my right arm with intentions to contact my colleagues at the quarters to inform them we got lost, but there was no network on my phone, neither was there any on anyone else's phone, O goodness, what a bad state of affairs.
We kept roaming the vicinity but to no avail did we remember the path we had taken to where we were. 6:30pm, and we were still with no hopes of help. There came a great and sudden gust of wind, succeeded by drizzling accompanied with thunder and lightning. "Could we have invaded the land of some gods which made them angry at us?" we thought. We began to utter multiple prayers aloud. Funny? Wait till you encounter a similar experience.😂

Out of nowhere came these strange kids who told us when we asked where they were headed in the rain, that they were going to a stream. There I was, intentional on not letting that opportunity pass on, we pressed on obtaining knowledge of how to find our way back to our quarters, and they did not neglect helping out these poor and helpless strangers. Immediately we received proper descriptions of which route to follow, we ran swiftly back. On reaching the community, calls had almost been placed by our colleagues to the management to announce us missing. From my head to toe ran that comforting feeling... "Home sweet home."

This is my tale, I got lost at Vandeikya 😊
