The Brisbane Heat secured their second Big Bash League trophy after a convincing triumph over the Sydney Sixers in the final held at SCG. With outstanding performances from both Josh Brown and Spencer Johnson, the Heat were dominant right from the opening whistle to the final blow.

By choosing to bowl, the Sydney Sixers were struggling and the Brisbane Heat did well on a wicket that was quite challenging. Josh Brown, the in-form opener after his record century for Challengers against Adelaide Strikers played another very essential score with 53 runs off 38 deliveries. Sea Abbott claimed 4 wickets, though his bowling was very steady; the Brisbane Heat set a stiff target of 166 for them to chase.

However, their response began to lose the momentum as it faced a barrage of attack from Brisbane Heat. The star performer was the fast bowler Spencer Johnson who returned figures of 4/26. However, entering the final having won four matches in a row, this time they could not develop any solid partnerships and were limited to only 112 runs.

The victory reclaimed the Brisbane Heat from the title drought of 11 years. Last season, the team had lost in a finals match with the Perth Scorchers. During this season, the Heat have emerged as a form side coming top of the ladder to also avenge their loss in Qualifier to the Sixers.

While the Sixers had their captain, Moises Henriques play through a Covid-19 diagnosis he tested positive earlier in the week-, they barely came close to delivering on the expectations. Such was the Heat's dominance in both batting and also bowling that the big win ensured a fitting end to an entire season-long campaign for redemption. The victory made the Brisbane Heat a force to be reckoned with in the BBL.
