বিশেষত সন্ধ্যার সময় তিনি শিশুদের দেখেশুনে রাখতে বলেছেন। কারণ, সন্ধ্যার পর কিছুক্ষণ জিন-শয়তানরা বাইরে ঘোরাফেরা করে। এ জন্য তাদের কুপপ্রভাব থেকে শিশুদের রক্ষার উদ্দেশ্যে এ সময় তথা মাগরিব থেকে এশার ওয়াক্ত শুরু হওয়া পর্যন্ত শিশুদের বাইরে নিয়ে যেতে নিষেধ করা হয়েছে।রাসুল (সা.) বলেন, ‘তোমরা তোমাদের গৃহপালিত পশু এবং ছেলেমেয়েদের সূর্য ডোবার সময় বের হতে দেবে না—যতক্ষণ না সন্ধ্যার আভা বিলীন হয়ে যায়। কারণ এ সময় শয়তান বিচরণরত থাকে। (মুসলিম, হাদিস : ২০১৩)

যখন সন্ধ্যা ঘনিয়ে আসার পর শিশুদের ঘরে ঢুকিয়ে এবং ‘বিসমিল্লাহ’ বলে ঘরের দরজা বন্ধ করে দেওয়ার কথা বলা হয়েছে।

হজরত জাবের ইবনে আবদুল্লাহ রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু আরও বলেন, রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম বলেছেন, ‘তোমরা গভীর রাত পর্যন্ত গল্প-গুজবে মশগুল থেকে না। কারণ তোমাদের কেউ জানে না যে, আল্লাহ তাঁর সৃষ্টিকুলের অনেককে রাতে স্বাধীনভাবে বিচরণ করতে ছড়িয়ে দেন। তোমরা (রাতের বেলা) ঘরের দরজাগুলো বন্ধ রাখো; পানপাত্রের (খাবারের পাত্রের) মুখ বেঁধে বা বন্ধ করে রাখ; পাত্রসমূহ ঢেকে রাখো এবং আলো নিভিয়ে দাও।’

সমস্ত কাজ করার একটি সঠিক সময় রয়েছে। অনেকেই সন্ধ্যাবেলাও ঘুমিয়ে থাকেন। শাস্ত্র মতে সন্ধ্যাবেলা ঘুমাতে নেই। কারণ এর ফলে তাঁদের বয়স কমে। পাশাপাশি বাড়িতে নেতিবাচক শক্তির প্রসার ঘটে। আবার ধর্মীয় দৃষ্টিতে মনে করা হয় সন্ধ্যাবেলা লক্ষ্মীর আগমন ঘটে, এ সময় পরিবারের সদস্যদের ঘুমাতে দেখলে দেবী রুষ্ট হয়ে চলে যান।সূর্যাস্তের পর কখনও বাড়িতে বা উঠোনে ঝাট দিতে নেই। কারণ এটি আর্থিক অনটনকে স্বাগত জানায়। শাস্ত্র মতে সন্ধ্যাবেলা ঘর ঝাট দিলে শুভ সময় ও আনন্দ দূর হয়ে যায়।সন্ধ্যাবেলা কখনও বাড়ির চৌকাঠে বসতে নেই। কারণ এ সময় বাড়িতে লক্ষ্মীর আগমন ঘটে। সন্ধ্যাবেলা চৌকাঠে বসলে বা দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলে পথ অবরুদ্ধ হয় এবং লক্ষ্মী সেখান থেকে ফিরে যান।হিন্দু শাস্ত্র অনুযায়ী সন্ধ্যাবেলায় তুলসী গাছ স্পর্শ করতে নেই। শাস্ত্রের এই নিষেধাজ্ঞা না-মানলে সেই পরিবারে দারিদ্র ও দুর্ভাগ্য আসে। এমনকি সন্ধ্যাবেলা তুলসী গাছে জল দেবেন না।

আসলে চর্যাপদ পড়ার মানে হলো চমৎকার ধাঁধাঁর মাঝে প্রবেশ করা।সহজিয়াপন্থী বৌদ্ধ সাধকেরা চর্যাপদের কবিতাগুলো লিখেছিলেন।তারা ছিলেন সমাজের নিচু শ্রেণির মানুষ। আসলে তারা নিজেদের কবিতার মাধ্যমে কিছু ধর্মীয় গূঢ়তত্ত্ব সংরক্ষণ করতে চেয়েছিলেন, যাতে তাদের মতো সাধকেরা সেগুলো বুঝতে পারেন।তাই সাধারণ জনগণের কাছে এ ভাষা অনেকটাই দুর্বোধ্য।পড়ার সময় মনে হয় একটি পংক্তি বুঝতে পারছি, আবার একটি পারছি না।ঠিক সন্ধ্যার সময় যেমন আলো আঁধারির খেলা চলে,এজন্য চর্যাপদের ভাষাকে সান্ধ্য ভাষা বলা হয়।প্রতিটি খাবারের বিশেষ পুষ্টির প্রয়োজনীয়তা রয়েছে ও বিশেষ সময়ও রয়েছে। কিন্তু রুটি বা পরোটার জন্য সুসংবাদটি হল আপনি দিনের যে কোনও সময় এটি খেতে পারেন!

সকালে ভগবানের পুজোয় তাজা ফুল দেওয়া খুবই শুভ বলে মনে করা হয়। কিন্তু সন্ধ্যাবেলায় পুজোর জন্য ফুল ছেঁড়া উচিত নয়। শাস্ত্র মতে, সন্ধ্যার সময় ফুল ছেঁড়াকে অশুভ বলে মনে করা হয়। এইজন্য সন্ধ্যার পুজোয় ভগবানকে ফুল অর্পণ করা উচিত নয়।সন্ধ্যায় পুজোর সময় শঙ্খ ও ঘণ্টা বাজানো উচিত নয়
সকালের পুজোয় শঙ্খ ও ঘণ্টা অবশ্যই বাজানো উচিত কারণ এতে ঘরে ইতিবাচকতা আসে কিন্তু সন্ধ্যার পুজোতেও অনেকে শঙ্খ ও ঘণ্টা বাজিয়ে থাকেন যা একেবারেই অনুচিত। বিশ্বাস করা হয় যে সূর্যাস্তের পর দেবী-দেবতা শুতে চলে যান এবং শঙ্খ ও ঘণ্টার আওয়াজে তাঁদের ঘুমের ব্যাঘাত ঘটে।সূর্যদেবের পুজো করবেন না
শাস্ত্রে ভোরবেলা সূর্যদেবকে পুজো করার এবং জল নিবেদনের বিধান রয়েছে। সূর্যাস্তের পর কখনোই সূর্যের পুজো করা উচিত নয়, এটা শুভ বলে মনে করা হয় না। এ ছাড়া সন্ধ্যার পুজোয় কখনই তুলসী পাতা ব্যবহার করবেন না। সূর্যাস্তের পর তুলসী পাতা ছেঁড়া উচিত নয়।সন্ধ্যার সময় ঝাড়ু দেবেন না
