Isaiah 48:12-17

"| have spoken; I have called him. I have brought him, and I will make him successful' (Isaiah 48:15 NCV).
🖊️ COMMENTARY
It is not everything that we call success that is God's. Good success is more than wealth but wealth is also part of it. Good success is that which has an impact on God's Kingdom and humanity with a worthwhile posterity and is often associated with the attainment of our God-given assignment (purpose).
The above prophecy was given about a man called Cyrus more than a hundred years before he was born. The birth and emergence of Cyrus are shrouded in mystery. According to Prof. Paul Ajah, Cyrus was born to the daughter of the Medes king, Astyages who for envy and his foolishness wanted him killed at birth and when his plot failed, he sent him away to live with his poor common father in Persia (called Anshan at the time). When Cyrus unanticipatedly became the king of Persia, Astyages summoned his army to fight against Cyrus but his army revolted against him, arrested him, and handed him over to Cyrus. From there on, Cyrus matched on to become great, conquering nation after nations including Babylon, and issued a decree for the Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild it in fulfillment of the prophecies of lsaiah and Jeremiah. Cyrus
succeeded because he was a man on assignment. He succeeded because he emerged by prophecy.
All creatures of God were created for a purpose (His pleasure Rev.4:11). All men were created to do God's will which is the only thing that pleases God. Our success begins when we realize that purpose and commit to achieving them. It also begins by paying attention to His Word and committing to obeying it (Josh. 1 :8).
