1 Timothy 5:3-7

"... Let then first learn to show piety at home.. for this is good and acceptable before God." (1 Timothy 5:4, NKJV).
🖊️ COMMENTARY
It is often said that charity begins at home. However, our lesson today adds also that: piety should begin at home. But it is disheartening that many of the people we celebrate in our services are best described as. "saints abroad but devils at home" Can people in our families, work places, or the associations where we belong testify that we are true children of God? A lot of people 'wear' Christianity as a dress and once they step out of Church they remove and put it in the bag only to wear it in the next fellowship.
Paul, prescribing for his protege, Timothy, the principles of success in pastoral ministry encourages him to teach the believers that their practice of piety should start at home. And to make conscientious efforts to ensure that the impact of your faith is felt at home. The best sermon a Pastor preaches is the one that moves his wife and family members.
