TOPIC: BREAKING FREE FROM LIMITATIONS
📖 TODAY'S TEXT:
Numbers 13:26-33
🔑 KEY VERSE:
"Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it" (Number 13:30).
🖊️ COMMENTARY
A gentleman was walking through an elephant camp and he spotted that the elephants weren't being kept in cages or held by the use of chains. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. As the man gazed upon the elephants he was completely confused as to why the elephants didn't just use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. They could easily have done so but instead they didn't try to at all. Curious and wanting to know the answer, he asked the trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape. The trainer replied, "When they were very young and much smaller, we used the same size of rope to tie them and at that age, it was enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break
away free."
The only reason the elephants were not breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over time, they adopted the believed that it just wasn't possible. Similarly, the major problem with the ten spies was that they were already crippled in their minds. The slavery mentality they held at Egypt was their greatest undoing. So, they could not see the new world of possibilities before them.
Beloved, we cannot afford to let our lives continue to be limited by slavery mentality. It is time to break free from the grips of superstitions and past moral weaknesses. Child of God, what is holding you back from the place called success is but a tiny rope of unbelief. It is time to break free. No matter how much the world tries to hold you back, always continue with the belief that what you want to achieve is possible. Like Caleb, let us believe that we can possess the Promised Land.
