Hello blurt blog lovers, about one of the Babussalam Mosques which was used as the Great Mosque for the City of Sabang located on Jln. Tengku Chik Ditiro, City of Sabang, Province of Nangroe Aceh Darussalam. The Great Mosque of Babussalam is also a mosque located in the westernmost part of our Indonesian archipelago.
Of course we are already familiar with the city of Sabang, because since childhood we have heard the Indonesian song with the rhyme "From Sabang to Merauke", this is the city of Sabang, the westernmost city in our archipelago, Indonesia.
The city of Sabang is located on Pulau Weh, this city is also marked by a monument called "Tugu Zero Kilometer" which was erected on a hill in this city.
Actually, Weh Island and the City of Sabang are not actually the westernmost island / city in Indonesia, because there is still Rondo Island in the northwest part of the island of Sumatra, and is directly adjacent to the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago belonging to the Indian state. However, because Rondo Island is only a rocky island with steep walls, so the island is uninhabitable. For this reason, the Indonesian government set Weh Island and Sabang City to be the westernmost, as well as Indonesia's zero point.
The city of Sabang, which is located on Pulau Weh, has experienced its peak of glory, when Pulau Weh was designated as an international sea port. However, this success was short lived along with changes in government policy that occurred.
At first, the Great Mosque of Babussalam was just a small mosque. However, along with the growing needs of the community, finally the total construction of the Great Mosque of Sabang was carried out with a very magnificent architecture. The Great Mosque of Babussalam is also often the center of religious activities, such as the commemoration of major Islamic holidays: the Prophet's Birthday, Hijri New Year and 2 Eid prayers. Various activities such as Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur'an, and various recitations were also held at this mosque.
Below are some photos I took from different sides of the mosque, I hope you all like it
