The history of the Jinn mosque in Aceh will be our interesting topic this time. The mosque, which is a historical heritage, was built in 1901.
The name Jin Mosque certainly raises question marks in our heads.
The reason is, the name genie is synonymous with spirits.
However, this mosque actually stands tall in a village called Lueng Angen Kutablang, Samalanga District, Bireuen Regency.
The following is an interesting story about the mosque built by Teungku H. Sheikh Abdul Jalil. Once upon a time, Teungku Haji Syekh Abdul Jalil returned to Aceh after studying in Mecca.
Then Sheikh Abdul Jalil held a recitation at this mosque. However, at one point, the prayer congregation wondered why there were always two curtains in the mosque. Meanwhile, the congregation who recited the Koran was only in one curtain.
One time the congregation asked: "Why is the mosque divided in two with a curtain even though we are the only congregation?" Then Sheikh Abdul Jalil answered that there were Muslim genies attending the recitation.
Until one day, the congregation asked Abu to convince the congregation that they could see jinn with the naked eye.
Sheikh Abdul Jalil answered that he agreed, but on the condition that the congregation did not laugh when they saw jinn worshipers who had several different body shapes from them, because that would hurt their feelings (the Muslim jinn).
So that night, the curtain was opened and they saw the jinn congregation, but the congregation broke their promise so that since then the jinn congregation could no longer be seen by humans in the mosque. This is the origin of the famous Jin Mosque.
