Gayo coffee is one of the best quality Arabica coffee commodities in the world. Many coffee entrepreneurs have gained great success by marketing and serving Gayo coffee. This time, we happened to have the opportunity to drink coffee at a coffee shop in Takengon, Gayo highlands. The name of the place is Indonesian Coffee Gallery, a coffee shop in a coffee plantation.
This outlet is located in Pegasing District, Central Aceh. This place is not as well known as other places because the access is quite far from Takengon City. However, we got a lot of stories and knowledge in this place.
As the name suggests, the Indonesian Coffee Gallery stores many types of coffee. Including the coffee plants in this garden, which according to the owner, there are 14 types of coffee. Another interesting thing, the coffee here is processed manually, without using a machine, so it enhances the taste of the coffee.
Apart from enjoying coffee, we can also enjoy the view and overlook the coffee plantation while watching the coffee stalks that are bearing fruit.
However, there was something interesting that also attracted attention and caused concern from our discussion with Syahru. He revealed other facts experienced by coffee farmers, which are in stark contrast to the image of Gayo coffee outside. Syahru admitted that he was very concerned and revealed the reality that many coffee farmers were not yet prosperous, while coffee prices were high.
Supposedly, the 'big name' of Gayo coffee is commensurate with the fate of coffee farmers in the highlands. For this reason, Syahru truly dedicates his life to maintaining the image of Gayo coffee, and also continues to help farmers facing gardening problems.
Hopefully Syahru's hopes come true, and for those of you who have a holiday or other agenda to go to Takengon, I recommend the Indonesian Coffee Gallery as your place for coffee.
