It's still dark in the morning. The cold air felt bone-chilling when I and my colleagues left the accommodation in Takengon City Center, Central Aceh. Fog still enveloped the uphill road we were on, both sides of the path were filled with Arabica coffee plants.
After about 30 minutes of driving, we arrived at our destination: Bukit Pantan Terong. A tourist location that rises at an altitude of 1,350 meters above sea level.
"I'm curious, it's said that in Pantan Terong early in the morning it's like being above the clouds."
That was the reason that made him really intend to return to that place again. Because, the previous afternoon, we had enjoyed the panorama from the same location.
From the Pantan Terong ridge, Takengon City, you can see the entire view of the Tawar Sea. Turning slightly to the left, far away you can see the capital of Bener Meriah Regency.
At nightfall, the sparkling lights of the two cold cities can be enjoyed from this place. But unfortunately, the Pantan Terong tourist location is closed at night.
We deliberately returned to Pantan Terong early in the morning. The goal is to see the panorama of fog. When he arrived, Takengon City and Lake Laut Tawar were still in the embrace of light smoke, standing there like above the clouds.
Sunlight slowly erodes the fog that covers the city and lake, bringing warm air to visitors to Pantan Terong.
Apart from the natural panorama, Pantan Terong has now built many unique, interesting places to hang out and take selfies with the city and lake as a backdrop. To use this facility, visitors will be charged a fee of IDR 5,000.
Takengon is a cold city located at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level. The capital city of Central Aceh offers the most complete tourist attractions in Aceh. Bukit Pantan Terong is just one of them.
Lake Laut Tawar is an attraction for many tourists. The lake covering an area of 5,472 hectares is only one point of charm in the entire Gayo Highlands region which consists of three districts: Bener Meriah, Central Aceh and Gayo Lues.
Interested there? Takengon City can be reached by land from Banda Aceh City, the capital of Aceh Province, around 314 kilometers, or around 7 hours' drive. Don't forget to prepare thick clothes, the weather is always cold in the mornings and evenings here.
