The topic of beginning and finishing anything is covered by a number of thought-provoking points of view. But once you get started, we seldom ever talk about how to do anything. To be honest, I rarely see people talking about the first few attempts at trying anything new or learning something. When attempting anything new, there are many obstacles, uncertainties, and challenges throughout the first few months. And you need to know about them in case they come as a complete surprise to you!

Consider someone who wishes to start a business or learn the violin. Now, some of you may argue that their paths are rather different from one another. What is the relationship between learning to play the violin and, say, the rug and carpet industry? One is trying to become an artist, and the other is focused on growing their business and generating a lot of money. Their objectives and methods differ as well. But there is an equally fascinating reality to each of these endeavors.

Starting a business, acquiring a new skill, or starting almost any effort all have challenges and roadblocks that we are ill-prepared for during the first few months. Suppose that you are attempting to scale a huge mountain. You estimate that the mountain's summit will take you five days to reach. The problem is that you've never been on a mountain climb. You've never done it before, to put it plainly. You're going to find the first day really challenging. You will get fatigued from it. You may even come to regret your initial decision to go up to the summit. One may experience self-doubt regarding their capacity to scale a mountain. The second day will resemble the first one quite a bit.

That being said, you can be sure that by the third day, things will change. You will become used to the difficulty of climbing. Perhaps you even learned a few new techniques and strategies to get better at climbing. You now know the fundamentals of climbing. After every day, there won't be as many threats waiting for you. It will all be easier since you will have gained wisdom and experience.

This holds true for all we pursue in life. It will be really challenging to learn a new instrument over the first few months. The first several months of launching a business will push you to the brink of madness.
