Obesity is excess body fat. Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure used to determine if an individual is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. It is calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilograms by their height in meters squared (kg/m^2). A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered normal weight, 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight, and 30 or higher is considered obese. However, it's important to note that BMI is not always an accurate indicator of health, as it does not distinguish between muscle and fat. Factors such as muscle mass, bone density and distribution of body fat should also be considered.

Actually my weight was not more than 55 kg as far back as I can remember and I am a thin person. I exercise regularly and maintain a BMI between 19 and 20.

🔸Symptoms of obesity include:

▪️Excess weight, particularly in the form of fat, which can be measured by Body Mass Index (BMI)
▪️Difficulty losing weight, even with diet and exercise
▪️Difficulty breathing, especially during physical activity
▪️Snoring or sleep apnea
▪️Joint pain and arthritis
▪️Type 2 diabetes
▪️High blood pressure
▪️High cholesterol
▪️Metabolic syndrome
▪️Cardiovascular disease
▪️Certain types of cancer
▪️The causes of obesity are complex and can vary from person to person. Some of the main causes include:

🔸Genetics: Obesity tends to run in families, and certain genes may make people more susceptible to gaining weight.
🔸Environmental factors: People who live in environments that promote overeating, such as those with easy access to fast food or limited access to healthy food options, are more likely to become obese.
🔸Lifestyle factors: People who eat large amounts of high-calorie foods, have sedentary jobs, and don't get enough physical activity are more likely to become obese.
🔸Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as hypothyroidism or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can make it difficult for people to control their weight.
🔸Medications: Certain medications, such as antidepressants or steroids, can cause weight gain.
🔸Psychological factors: People who have emotional or stress-related eating disorders or poor body image may be more likely to become obese

This includes eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and limiting the intake of foods high in sugar, saturated fat, and calories. It is also important to engage in regular physical activity, such as going for a walk, bike ride or taking an exercise class. Additionally, getting enough sleep, limiting screen time and managing stress can also help to prevent obesity.

It is not appropriate to laugh at or mock people who are struggling with obesity. Obesity is a complex medical condition that can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and mental health. It is important to be respectful and understanding of others, regardless of their body size or shape. Additionally, fat shaming and body shaming can be harmful and can lead to negative mental and physical health outcomes, such as depression and low self-esteem. It's better to educate and support them on a healthy lifestyle and help them to achieve their goals
