Today is harvesting day of my little vegatable garden. Many vegetables had started ripening so I decided to cut them today
Some of them are 10 cucumbers, 2 kilos of radishes, 500 grams of beans, 250 grams of chilies, and one kilo of okra. This is the value of some of these harvest in USD
Vegatable | kilograms | Price |
---|---|---|
Cucumber | 6Kg | USD 8.6 |
Radishes | 2Kg | USD 2.40 |
Beans | 0.5Kg | USD 1.47 |
Chilies | 0.25Kg | USD 0.94 |
These are non-toxic as they are cultivated using only organic fertilizers. It can also be preserved longer than store-bought vegetables. The soil in my garden is sandy so I looked for a solution and thought I'd share it with you.
First you need to burn straw or something similar to turn the soil. The soil is removed and the entire bed is dug down only one foot. To fill the hole, put the food that is removed from the kitchen and also put dung straw or sticks. The sticks are placed to keep the moisture in the soil. After that, it is left to dry for about a week and the burnt soil is put on top of it. I water well for two days to wet the whole bed and then on the 3rd day I plant the crops.
Due to the decaying things underneath, they decompose and the necessary fertilizers are automatically mixed with the soil. Try to grow non-poisonous vegetables in your garden and you will be able to live free from diseases for a long time. Have a good day.
Beautiful harvest! I think your hard work paid off.
I really appreciate the way you think, it’s amazing to see such beautiful harvest without using any toxic fertilizers😊
Keep up the good work!
With the current situation in Sri Lanka, this is good for the economy. I did not sell this, I bought it to grow it for home consumption, but it grew well
