A wonderful mushroom that bleeds

There is hardly anyone who has not seen a variety of mushrooms growing spontaneously in the soil, in haystacks and on decaying plant parts. Among the species of mushrooms that differ in shape, color and size, some are edible and some are not suitable for consumption as they are poisonous. This article is about the non-edible, but popular mushroom species 'Bleeding Tooth'.

The scientific name of this mushroom species is 'Hydnellum peckii'On them, you can see patches of a thick glue-like liquid in the shape of the teeth, and they are bright red in color. They are mainly found in North America and Europe.

The top of the 'Bleesing tooth' mushroom is often funnel-shaped, but there are others that are quite different in shape. A species of very fine fibers can also be seen in the upper part of the mushroom, which is white in color. A well-grown mushroom of this type grows up to a maximum of 20 cm in circumference at the top. In the early stages, the fungus has a soft surface, but gradually it becomes rough. Red, glue-like droplets can be seen scattered on the top of these mushrooms. The glue can only be seen during the period when the fungus is fresh.

Although these mushrooms are not poisonous, they cannot be used as food due to their strong bitter taste. However, various people make dyes using what looks like a red liquid on the mushroom.
