If you want to get away from all the beaches around Thailand and fancy a bit of mountain air then Chiang Mai is the province to head to in the northern part of Thailand the last time, I was there I visited Mon Jam which is a village located in Northern Thailand, around 1 hour away from Chiang Mai city up in the mountain hills the most refreshing and beautiful village you will see in Chiang Mai.
Mon Jam is one the local villages on the Chiang Mai hills it is home to stunning mountain views, walking trails, and resorts that will leave you speechless and from these high mountains you can see right across to Chiang Mai City on a very clear day.
Mon Jam village is well known for people who love camping to enjoy the incredible views and the fresh mountain air there are also beautiful Botanical Gardens spread over the mountains the mountains become very colorful in the cooler season of December to February with lovely aroma smells while you're having breakfast at an elevation 1900 meters above sea level from your mountain cafes or from your resort.
Mon Jam is also known for its ethnically diverse Hmong Tribes people who live in these hills farming and marking handmade items like hats, wooden carved statues and many other gift items that they sell to tourist. Taking time to talk with them and how and why they keep up their traditions, is a humbling and interesting experience. The neck rings are put on girls from the age of around 5 years old, they know now that they are a tourist site, but with little help from the rest of the outside world these Hmong Tribes rely on the public, that their race and traditions will still survive they are friendly and lovely people.
