Self-esteem is what we think of ourselves and how much we like and respect ourselves.
It is said that if we do not love ourselves, it is impossible for another person to love us, let alone like us. Loving and respecting ourselves is very different from vanity or narcissism, which in extreme cases, can lead to total self-centeredness, selfishness, and the inability to take into account the opinions or feelings of others. On the other hand, healthy self-esteem means that we feel comfortable and confident in ourselves and who we are.
Most people doubt themselves and feel uncomfortable with certain personality traits. Fortunately, we can change practically any part of our character if it is vital to us and assuming we will make the essential attempts. It is the essence of self-improvement: making positive changes in our lives. Of course, change takes effort and can be difficult, but there are many valuable resources to help and advise us.
Self-esteem is linked to how we feel on the inside, influencing how we think and behave on the outside. Our self-esteem determines our personality and character and how we respond to the experiences and challenges we face in life. It also affects our relationships and how we interact with everyone we interact with. And it certainly affects our success and happiness in life.
Healthy self-esteem is about feeling good about yourself and appreciating yourself. No one is perfect, and self-improvement is a constant process. Simply striving to improve our lives will help us feel better about ourselves and increase our self-esteem and confidence.
