Hey guys! So I made Nigerian meat pie today and it came out nice, let me give you a detailed description of how I achieved that
Dough
RECIPE MEASUREMENTS
Flour. 5 cups
Butter. 250g
Salt. 1/2 tsp (leveled)
Baking powder. 1 tsp (scoop)
Water start with 1/2 cup
untill ready
Stuffings
Meat
Irish potatoes
Carrot
Onion/Garlic
Seasoning
Salt
Curry/thyme
Oil
Pepper
Procedure
- mince your meat, potatoes, carrot, onion, separately
- fry your curry, thyme and everything minced one after the other for it to fry
- sift flour and add up all your dry ingredients.
- rub in your butter for even spread
- make a well in the middle and begin to pour in water gradually and begin to work it in gradually too
- knead with less pressure, spread with your rolling pin then place on your meatpie cutter, stuff it and cut. Glaze your meatpie with your egg, punch with a fork for space to rise and let out steam. Off to the preheated oven, but remember to turn your oven down if possible to the lowest hear, this may likely sit in the oven for the next 40 - 45 mins to bake.
Note: to stop the formation of gluten, use cold water to avoid it stretching and getting too elastic.
Alright guys, I hope you learnt something new today!
