Last few days we had heavy rains because of the activated southwest monsoon. This flooding is unexpected because there are no any recorded landslides in Deniyaya which is the usual case. So I believe this is due to the overflow from the Nilwala River. The dangerous thing is not flooding, we had a rumour where people saw a large crocodile over 18 feet in paddy fields. I think the news is true. Because there are many crocodiles in Nilwala river.

The forecast for upcoming days looks better. So, we hope that things get much better. Specially the roads will be cleared to drive from home to town. However who doesn’t love rain, when it is light and calming to the body. But not like this obviously. So I pray for everyone who got affected by the floods.
