I happen to stumble upon to a vendor's post about selling these ripe from the tree mangoes. Then I happen to be running-out of the previous ripe mangoes that I had bought from that vendor a few days ago. So I decided to message her through chat in Facebook and told her that I want four kilos of the Mangoes since I like the taste of Mangoes which ripened from its tree.

Most of the time the mangoes which are being sol din the market are forcibly ripened via the use of calcium carbide which makes the fruit toxic because it creates phosphine/phosphate and arsine/arsenic in the fruit. That is why I will never know if I am in deep trouble because I like to eat mangoes with my meals almost everyday if it is the mango season.

So the only safe way to eat mangoes is to have them as ripened fruit from the tree which can be determined by looking at the fruit itself, it is already ripe but the skin of the ripened Mango is not uniform but the flesh inside is already soft with some form of firmness. The ripe flesh inside is a bit translucent and very sweet indeed depending on the variety of the said Mango.

In this case I had the "Piko" variety of mango, it not that big and in-fact these are relatively small mangoes unlike the Carabao or Davao mangoes which are the most sweet when ripe even if it is artificially ripened. If you happen to buy premium mangoes like the Davao/Carabao mangoes and they are still sour, just put them in a room temperature place like the kitchen and then wait for about four to five days. After that you will have the sweetest big mango ever that you can enjoy.

The color of the skin of the ripe Mango from its tree has a distinction because it will look like orange hue to almost red depending on how the heat of the sun strikes its skin. The shine of the sun doesn't actually damage the fruit but it makes the skin take the colors aforementioned. That is why it gets attractive to eat while those that are taken from the tree while it is still green but matured enough to ripen on its own or artificially ripened has a different uniform yellow color and thin skin.

These tree-ripened mango fruits in the other hand has a thicker skin because it is the way it is if Mango fruits would ripe naturally from the tree. In contrast, a mango which Calcium Carbide is used might not ripe better and will look like light yellow, but because most ripe mangoes are delicious, the only difference will be the level of sourness because the sour it gets, the less nice it is to be eaten as people really prefers big and sweet mangoes although the better the quality of course will command a steeper price particularly when it is nearing the end of the mango season.

It is quite difficult now to buy premium mangoes, not the Japanese mangoes because its taste is not that delicious and only pricy because of the way it is cultivated. But the best local Mangoes here in my country are imported from the southern part, it just means that it will have to be shipped from ship and because of that it will be more expensive to buy and will cost me about 4.7 times more than what it cost for me to buy these tree-ripened mangoes which only costs 70 Pesos a Kilogram while the big Davao Mangoes costs 330 Pesos per Kilogram. So I didn't bother buying them again because I can just be contended with the tree-ripened mangoes although it is really nice to have the Davao mangoes it they are justifiably affordable.

I personally recommend everyone to have some mangoes once in a while like the Philippine variety of ripe Mangoes because you are missing a lot in your life because this fruit is so delicious. You can have it as a healthy desert, a part of your meal, a palate cleanser, a supplemental food to add calories in your diet, or made into a drink or even an ingredient for fruit salad. In my case I use it to boost my appetite so that I can eat more so that I can add more mass to my still thin body and it helps me a lot in that regard, I just have to make sure that I will not overeat it because I am controlling my Phosphorus level and mangoes has a lot of it, so just consume one of these relatively small mango a day.
