I just recently discovered that Papaya leaves can be made into like any other leafy vegetable, you just have to parboil it with some water with salt and then you can add it to the vegetable dish that you want to cook. This is a good thing in cases that there aren't any foods around that you can cook. However I will prefer other food items rather than cook Papaya leaves but in Zombie apocalypse, we do not have any choices don't we?

Now, the Papaya seeds I know have medicinal uses particularly for de-worming. You jus to have to grind the seeds before ingesting them or if you can, chew them. I haven't tried them but maybe if we can have some big Papaya, I might try it but de-worming is done at least a few times over to clear one's gut of sometimes unwanted wormies in our gut. I said "wanted" because sometimes we need these wormies in order to modify our immune system. In other words if we have an overactive immune system, the weakening effect of having some parasites in our guts will normalize our hyperactive immune system. I know this because I watched an episode of "House" but I am not sure if it is a fact, so take it with a grain of salt, the information, not the worms.

In some parts of the world, Papaya seeds are used as a spice like black peppers because they area bit astringent and has a distinct flavor and it makes sense to incorporate them into dishes requiring some flavor and "heat". Well, I haven't tried it too but in zombie apocalypse as well, it can be used for substituting black pepper but just cope with the flavor I guess.

But this one is a real fact, the Papain enzyme in green Papaya fruit, leaves, sap, and roots can be used to breakdown protein into smaller pieces and because of that it can be used to tenderize meat. Because of that, you can use the juice from unripe Papaya to help to aid your digestion if you had eaten a lot of meat because as I had googled it, the greener the Papaya fruit, the more Papain enzyme it has. This is a good thing to be had when we eat meats because we get to absorb more of its amino acids in the process plus we can tenderize our meats for barbecue if we use these Papaya parts if cooking acids like citrus fruits or vinegar is not around as a main tenderizer ingredient.
