The sole purpose of education is having a profession at the end of the day. After going through primary, secondary and tertiary institution,we all have that job we dream of having.
I remember always telling my father and whoever cared to listen that I would love to be a teacher! Whenever I say so,I always get the question,why? Why as in,of all the professions there is why be a teacher? What happened to being a Doctor,Lawyer, Engineer, Accountant, Pilot and so on?
My dad would ask me why do you want to be a teacher? Truthfully,as at then I had no specific reason,I just wanted to be a teacher. As time went on,after my secondary School education,I was able to teach in a primary school for almost a year and I must say,it was a wonderful experience.
I liked how the students looked up to me.
A person passes through the hands of so many teachers in his or her life time and these set of people can make or mar a child's life.
As I grew older, I realized why I wanted to be a teacher. Teachers are nation builders, we mould lives. A person has to be sick for to visit the Doctor,a person had to be in some sort of trouble to go to a Lawyer but a teacher doesn't exists for problems at all.
In my final year,I went for my teaching practice and I was overwhelmed! Standing in front of a class of about forty students, marking assignments and classwork... explaining a topic to the best of my knowledge made me crave teaching more although it lasted for three months,I wished it lasted longer.
I can't wait to be a full fledged teacher someday..
