Ahsan Habib (2 January 1918 - 10 July 1975) was a renowned Bangladeshi poet and writer. He has been the literary editor of the daily Bangla for a long time and has played the role of guardian in the literary arena of post-independence Bangladesh. He is considered one of the leading modern poets of the forties. For his contribution to Bengali language and literature, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the Ekushey Padak, the second highest civilian honor in the country in 1986 and the posthumous highest civilian honor in 1994, the Swadhinata Puraskar.

Birth and education
Ahsan Habib was born on January 2, 1918 in the village of Shankarpasha in Pirojpur. Father's name is Hamizuddin Hawladar, mother's name is Jamila Khatun. He had five brothers and four sisters He is the first child of financially indigent parents Family wise, Ahsan Habib grew up in a literary and cultural environment. He has been involved in writing since childhood. At that time he had books of modern literature and some books in his house. Such as Anwara, Monowara, Milon Mandir etc. 6 Once you read all this, you feel the urge to write something yourself. He passed the entrance examination in 1935 from Pirojpur Government School with a favorable environment for literature. Then he moved to Barisal Admitted to the famous BM College 6 But due to the economic crisis, he had to keep his college education unfinished till the end. After studying at BM College for a year and a half, he moved to the then capital Kolkata in the last half of 1936 in search of work. Thus the poet Ahsan Habib entered Calcutta from Barisal.

Work and personal life
Ahsan Habib married Sufia Khatun, daughter of Mohsin Ali Miah, a resident of Katnarpara, Bogra on June 21, 1948. Ahsan Habib was the father of two daughters (Keya Chowdhury and Johra Nasreen) and two sons (Moinul Ahsan Saber and Manjurul Ahsan Jaber). Son Saber is a well-known Bengali novelist and the head of the publishing house Divyaprakash.

An article by him was published in a school magazine in 1933 while he was still in school at the age of 12-13. His first poem was published in Kishore Pirojpur Government School Magazine in 1934. Later, as a student, he published in a number of literary journals in Calcutta. While in school, he was rewarded for presenting the content of the essay competition in poetry. By that time, however, several of his writings had been published in reputed newspapers like Desh, Monthly Mohammadi, Weekly Bichitra. Going to Calcutta, Ahsan began his life of struggle There in 1938 he was appointed as the co-editor of the daily Takbir. Salary is only 18 rupees He later worked for the Calcutta Bulbul Patrika from 1936 to 1938 and the monthly Saugat Patrika from 1939 to 1943. He also worked for Akashvani as a staff artist at the Calcutta Center from 1943 to 1948.

Death
Ahsan Habib died on 10 July 1975.
