French President Emmanuel Macron resumed telephone talks on Sunday (6/3) local time with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
A French presidential official said the call lasted 1 hour 45 minutes and was at Macron's request. This is the fourth time the two leaders have spoken by telephone since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

The previous phone call was on March 3, which according to the Elysee or the French presidential palace, had left Macron feeling "the worst is coming" in Ukraine with Putin's intent to seize the "whole" of the country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has often used narratives against neo-Nazis as the basis for his military operations in Ukraine. Uniquely, President Volodymyr Zelensky who currently leads Ukraine is of Jewish descent.

Last week Putin said the special military operations he ordered were strictly enforced. He also said the operation was on schedule.

"I want to say that special military operations are proceeding strictly according to schedule, according to plan," Putin said opening a meeting with his security council. "We are at war with neo-Nazis," he continued.

Anti-war rallies are still widely held in various parts of Russia to protest President Vladimir Putin's ordered military invasion of Ukraine. In the past day, Russian police arrested more than 4,300 demonstrators in various regions.

Videos posted to social media by Russian opposition activists and bloggers show thousands of demonstrators chanting the slogans 'No to war!' and 'Shame!' in action.

Dozens of demonstrators gathered in the Ural city of Yekaterinburg can be seen being detained in the video that circulated. One of the demonstrators was even seen being beaten by police wearing riot gear. A mural depicting Putin in the city was seen vandalized.

Russia threatens countries that house Ukrainian military planes

Russia warned neighboring countries hosting Ukrainian military aircraft as the invasion continued. One of them is Romania, which is a member of NATO, which Russia says could end up being involved in armed conflict.

"We know for sure that Ukrainian warplanes flew to Romania and other neighboring countries," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a video statement,

"The use of a network of airfields in these countries to serve as bases for Ukrainian military aviation which is then used against the Russian army, can be considered as the involvement of these countries in armed conflict," he stressed.
