"A man with a new idea is crazy until the idea succeeds." Mark Twain.

It is not unreasonable to say that any new idea, insofar as it breaks with what is established, has the appearance of a kind of madness, a somewhat subversive insanity.

Hence, it is attractive for the youth group, so prone to transgression and experimentation, also, that it is so rejected by the older generations, because since they have become accustomed to a way of understanding the world they are not very willing to allow such a thing to change, even if they know they are wrong in some way.
