What the hell was I thinking? Agnes wondered as she glanced through her laptop and pressed the digits on her calculator, hoping they would give her the desired figures.

Her world was coming to an end. No one could help her now. While her parents felt disappointed and lost, her colleagues were betrayed. Her boss had used her and like ghosts in Nigerian movies, disappeared into thin air. She thought he loved her but she was wrong. He loved money and went after it, not minding the people he hurt in the process.

Agnes worked as a Treasurer at FLESH and BLOOD. While playing her role as treasurer, her boss, Kizito, made advances at her and stole her heart. One fateful day, he convinced her to do something she had never imagined, syphon the company’s funds into his bank account. He promised they’d travel the world together and flee men of law enforcements. Without a word, Agnes did Kizito’s bidding.

But now, she’s all alone. Kizito had made away with all the money and implicated her in the process. She and she alone would face the law. She could end up in jail. If the jury were kind, she would get 20 years. She wept and wailed, but there was no shoulder to lean on. If she had known, she would have made better Choices. She regretted everything.

10,000 kilometers away, Kizito’ was settled, on a beach, with another pretty lady. He did not know or care what Agnes was going through. If only he knew…
