The attainment of transcendent insight is the real object of the training advocated in the traditional Oral Teachings, which do not consist, as so many imagine, in teaching certain things to the pupil, in revealing to him certain secrets, but rather in showing him the means to learn them and discover them for himself.
The Masters of the secret teachings say that the truth learned from another is of no value, and that the only truth which is living and effective, which is of value, is the truth which we ourselves discover.
The Secret Oral Teachings in Tibetan Buddhist Sects, Alexandra David-Neel, 1967, p.13
"Doubt!"
Doubt is an incitement to research, and research is the Way which leads to Knowledge.
(ibid, p.15)
And these two simple things - the doubt and the means to remove the doubt - is all there is.
The reason for the thousands of books and the millions of words, both written and spoken, is that the process only works for the individual, one person at a time.

As happens not infrequently, I wrote this a few days ago based on a link from a comment. The originator of that stepping stone may come forward - as I've forgotten who it was!
Considering the fact of that quote is a parable it would be difficult for me to argue it. That is due to the fact that I have no knowledge of what perspective it was said from. To me there is 3 types of knowledge.
There is the common knowledge term that confused individuals think it means. They think it means, "Information attained" from outside of themselves.
Then there is the type of knowledge, That is hidden to us as "known unknowns" or maybe even "unknown knowns". For example, we do not need to think how to breathe because our natural state already knows this and is embedded with this knowledge. Just as walking and blinking. We discover this after much practice honing our skills of self observation.
It is through this observation of our inner self that we may come to find what is known as gnowledge. I mixed the g in from the world of gnosticism. The term "gnosis".

I don't doubt this is a tricky subject to study.

I wonder if that object was built based on DMT experiences. I see many who draw these based on their trips.
Yes, some of the "objects" in Tibetan Buddhism are actually derived from transcendental experiences - trips! So would not be surprising if they arise spontaneously.
The vajra, or dorje, is supposed to be a symbol of lightning - altho has many layers of interpretation. Is actually a great object to hold! ;-)

I used one of these back in 2010 to pierce my third eye...
I was never the same...
