Doctors & Surgeons & Psychotherapists: Butchers & Liars

in psychology •  2 years ago

This is brave.

This is going up against all the professional agencies that support the pathologising of normality, and the normalisation of pathologies.

Also worth reading the comments.

As a clinical psychologist and professor emeritus, I wonder if he will go the extra step and remove himself from those agencies of liars.

You know you live in a psychopathocracy when every agency does the opposite of what it claims to do on paper.

We now live in such times.

The sad thing is that it takes one to know one.

Meet Dr. Crab

mmm... meaning?

It means in order to really know what is going inside you have to be there and once you are there you find yourself to be the problem. That's why I got out of science and medicine more than 20 years ago.

Dr. Crab is ready to do your surgery for you. He is about the only other option out there besides the doctors.

OK, but in this case, articulating the problem is much needed to outsiders.

Yeah, many of my friends bailed out of science - after a scientific education - generally for the same reasons: the path ahead was one of obedience to corporate demands. Not a great revelation for someone taught to think deeply, to then find that the well had to be this one you were designated.

Exactly...

It's the grant thing that screws everything up. I found myself more comfortable with elementary students and it stuck with me. I'm glad I made the move and I look younger than a lot of my friends who stayed in academics and medicine.
