This will be my first time participating in this #pobstreet and sincerely, I don't know whether I am off track by posting but this prompt made me to remember what to me this year.

My worst experience.

If I am asked over and over again, this experience will still be the worst experience though it might not be the best but when you are already at risk, you will not regret.

Life is like trading cryptocurrency or going into business. You can not predict what will happen but when you are being fooled by others whom you trust, such feeling might remain in your memory for a long time.

My worst experience this year was trusting a total stranger.

How did it happened?

It was on Friday, 16th of April, 2021. I was on my way to Enugu from Ibadan. We were still on Shagamu-Benin expressway when I received the message.

This guy just messaged me and asked if I have PayPal funds. As at then, I have more than $500 in my account which I have not been able to withdraw. The funds belongs to that sent their funds to me though I have paid part of the money and part of the funds is mine for the funds that I have settled with my own money but I was unable to withdraw.

PayPal is not supported in Nigeria but whenever there is a problem, there is a business with audience. That made few people to look for ways to set up a PayPal account that can receive funds in Nigeria. The risk is that we will not be able to withdraw the funds instantly and some might be locked for 6months by PayPal.

On that day, this guy was asking me to sell all my funds to him but I told him I can only sell $200 to him because that represent my own money that is in the account and those that own the remaining has been requesting for their money and that alone pushed me to taking a decision which on a norms, I would not have tried.

I trusted a total stranger with $200.

Maybe I am dumb or maybe the other guy should be blamed for being a scam.

Like, a Nigerian scamming a hustling Nigerian. 😢😢😢

I sent the fund and this guy keep telling me that he has not received the fund from the other person saying he is just a middleman.

I keep calling and calling and it got to some point when he blocked me.

It took him more than a week but what did I got, nothing... Within the process of waiting for him, the other funds was released and I was able to settle those that have money with me.

Till today, I keep thanking God that I did not send the entire funds to him. Maybe I will still be paying debts till now. It's a worst decision that I cannot forget so soon.

After trying to reach him for days, I contacted the mail that I sent the fund to and that was the person that made me realised that he has paid him same day as soon as he received the funds.

I can not cry that day.

The whole money that I have been saving since the beginning of the year was collected from me in broad day light without stress.

My action.

I and the guy stays in Enugu and he was shocked when he realised that I was posted to Enugu for my service year because he was not expecting that but there is nothing I can do about the fund but the experience gave me an unsolicited friend but I can never trust him again.

It's not a curse because what happened affected me and it is still affecting me but thank God. I am getting back on my feet.

It can only get better from here. 💯💯💯

Pay pal can give you a way of calling back those funds I believe. But it may be too late to do that now.

I tried it but it was a confirmed sale so my query was not approved.

Peace
