I like to stack. Crypto was a side-line and then I dove deeper.
Here's my first sizable gold coin, old 1875 $20 coin. Bought for $1200 back when Gold was around $1230 ozT. (troy ounce) and now it's a lot higher.

I am not a precious metals expert, nor a numismatic coin person, but this one seems to grade out pretty well. I estimated the "VG" condition and that seems to add around $100 to the overall value. I paid top dollar for this coin when I bought it, but I tried hard to get it for less. But that is not an issue at all, now. Gold went up over 65% since I bought it. Gold surpassed $2060 levels earlier this year. If we get another big stimulus package, I predict a lot more precious metals buying frenzy. Like the 2nd tier precious metals are up a LOT right now, that being your LEAD and BRASS and shooting IRONs.

It's a very nice coin to have in your collection ... over 100 years, and still looking very good. Yeah I guess that's what's making it 'precious'. Gold is timeless.
