Progressive Democrat Americans on TikTok appear to be in a state of civil war. From allegations against prominent creators like Harry Sisson, accused of predatory behavior toward vulnerable women, to mid-tier creators publicly clashing over accusations of misogyny, sexism, racism, and other negative "-isms," it's astonishing that this community ever gained so much influence on TikTok in the first place.
For progressives on the platform, it has been a turbulent month. Many are desperately searching for any excuse to "expose" others for not being "progressive enough," turning it into a kind of purity test. With many of them having already blocked right-wing voices, they’re now left scrutinizing one another—and discovering that some of their supposed "allies" are anything but perfect.
As someone who leans center-right and can find room to disagree with "right-wingers" while still engaging in conversation, perhaps I should be pleased about this progressive civil war—but I’m not. The conflict within their community is genuinely concerning. They’re turning on each other, and it’s only a matter of time before they cause real harm within their ranks. Prominent progressive creators are betraying one another, figuratively stabbing each other in the back.
In a way, perhaps it’s deserved. After all, many of them have fervently championed cancel culture. Maybe this is cosmic justice, karma, or even God giving them a taste of their own medicine.
