This year showed us a lot of things we didn't see before and opened our eyes and minds. There are things we may never though about in our lives but now we think about that always and know that for sure. I'm glad that this is making us better at least in some knowledges.
In Russia for example the constitution was updated this year and a lot of people talked about that in the country. One of the amendment for example was about the patriotism. They kind of said that they will teach that in school. I also thought about that because I have a little kid growing and I don't want to see him manipulated somehow.
I'm almost sure what kind of patriotism they talked about. For example we have the same president for more than 20 years, so his team is the same people ruling the country for so long. So they are considered the leaders of the country who should be respected. But is that the real patriotism ?
Refering to wikipedia :
is the feeling of love, devotion and sense of attachment to a homeland and alliance with other citizens who share the same sentiment.
As you see there is no word about the government. It's all about loving your country. Wishing the best for citizens. Wanting to see the improvement in all the fields. I think that's the real patriotism.
