A trip today out to the monthly, end of month antique/flea market, last Sunday of every month. In Lublin Poland.

The scooter, abandoned as it is, is an electric one, you can find them all over the city, abandoned and usually like that one, thrown to the ground, it is a government idea, you hire them by the hour probably by app and then dump them when you finish so some blind person can break their neck tripping over them.

Anyway, onto the market we go.

My daughter asked what the sex shop was, I said people go in there and buy sex by the 1/2 kilo. It was all I could think of saying.

So here we go. We start off at the castle.

The car parking spaces below the castle are where most of the market is located.

I am going to load you up with pictures now to give you an idea what is sold here.

Bit blurred this next one, no idea why.

It was that last photo that made me realise the 50mm lense was the problem, so I switched to the 18 - 55mm.

I will have to do this in 2 posts as blurt says maximum amount exceeded.

You get the idea though, more in part 2.

I miss markets and car boot sales - nothing like that here - is all horrible trash, or horrifically expensive. It's like nobody ever made anything built to last - hence nothing secondhand.

I must admit it is me that always wants to go to it, I have to talk the wife into it, but daughters eyes light up when I say market day, she sees toys in her eyes lol.
It was fun and we managed to fit in a meal at 1 of the Irish bars and a couple of pints, so yep, great day out and a refreshing change from working day and night.

good :-)
off to the land for couple of days - weeding for real!

in the UK, I kitted out the whole house from markets and secondhand shops - beautiful wooden furniture that was "out of fashion", hence bought for a song. Was as good when I resold it as when bought.

I was going to cut the grass today, that takes days and is never finished, but rain in the night saved me :-)
Enjoy that garden buddy.

urgh, never liked grass - im investigating dandelion - reading if any downsides ;-)

Dandelion is ace, boil the tops and stems for a few hours with sugar and water, helps with all manner of ailments, roots for liver, kidney issues and stomach aches.

Suddenly struck me as an idea for the farm - use one weed to stop the other weeds!
Can also be a minor 2nd crop, as Thais do eat it and, as you say, is medicinal too.
Will wait for the trees to be 1 year old, so the roots won't compete.
Not sure it will enjoy the dry season - experiments.

Nothing ventured is nothing gained, and everything is a learning curve and only a guess as there are so many variables involved with growing food it is impossible to know the outcome 100%.

lol, is just over 2 acres, so, yeah, a BIG garden ;-)
can get more, but let's see how the world churns.

Arh welcome to my world, endless amounts of gardening, I do have a little bonus when the guy 2 farms over comes to mow with his tractor, then rolls it up for winter feed, and when his land is eaten by his cows he brings them to eat our grass, every little helps as I am not into hiring gardeners lol, way too snotty and self important in my book. I would hate to resemble free loading land owners, so DIY.

We do have workers - and family manager - only reason I bought it, so is part of family holdings. But I'm not on site, so I think good to be here sometimes, also show my kid what is really involved, a sense of nature's progress, as will be hers eventually.

My daughter asked what the sex shop was, I said people go in there and buy sex by the 1/2 kilo. It was all I could think of saying.

LoL 😅

Oh, I do love flea markets!!!!

I could not think of anything else to say lol.
I normally come back with loads of stuff I never use, so just bought a bar of natural soap, whatever that is lol.
Wife bought a necklace, daughter a talking/dancing cactus, well she is only 10 bless her.

LoL, thats what flea markets for, to fill your home with things you dont need. Although im sure your daughter thinks she won the lottery 🥰

P.s. i found my mums vibrator when i was a child. She said it was a neck massager. 😂 I totally belived it . . .so surely your daughter is fine with your answer.

"P.s. i found my mums vibrator when i was a child. She said it was a neck massager. 😂 I totally belived it" You sure do know how to make me giggle lol.

This lad in the picture had his tongue hanging out literally in this picture as the beautiful barmaid had a short skirt on lol.

The pleasure is all mine 😅

LoLoLoL, well she sure is pretty. . . .

Drop dead gorgeous, just do not tell my wife I said that 😂

LoL, calling her NOW. . . .😅

Kidding. . .

I never understood these things tbh. . .what is wrong with recognising beauty? As long as one is faithful, I think there is nothing wrong with noticing someone who is attractive. I always been the first one to say to any of my guys "Look at that girl, she is so pretty." . . .

I love a flea market!! Sitting here getting my change out trying to buy shit. They don't even have auctions here in Ireland, I had to go over the border to get my auction fix and covid put a stop to that too.

No flea markets in Ireland at all? Very odd, we all have junk to get rid of after all, one man's junk and all that jazz.

Carboot sales are becoming a thing now so must get myself to one of them.

They are only going to rise in popularity as the more people are pushed to own nothing, the more they will want to own, we never grew up any of us did we lol. 😂

For me it's more about things there you will never see in any 'shop', a bit like looking through someones house at all their 'treasure'. Plus if you have a lot of retro stuff you might find a part or something to go with it. A bit like owning a betamax and finding some tapes to fit. My dad did get betamax and he knew it was superior to VHS.

VHS were crap, betamax was the daddy, cd is rubbish too compared to vinyl, betamax was better sound and vision, vinyl was better sound, you watch and listen to 1, the other you listen, but everyone got sold the crap via adverts.

yeh my dad was very big on music and stereo's and he claimed shenanigans went on coz beta was the best of the two. CD's make good bird scarers.

he was right, it was Phillips that pushed for VHS, as they had invented tape, they also invented the cd player/laser reader, it was all about licensing money/fees.
I have no cd at the apartment, only vinyl and some Quad electrostatic speakers from 1983, you have to plug them into the mains electric to get them working, they cost around £2500 back then, still got them 👍

As always thank you.

Love it. It looks similar to the swap meet I made a living at for many years. On a good Friday and Saturday we could see up to 25000 folks come through. Sadly they have lost much of their popularity the last ten years or so, although if they keep pushing us to hyper inflation it should drive consumers back to used items again.

I really miss the 90's. The crowds and money was out of this world. Had i known it would drop as much as it did I would have worked much harder at it.

How do vintage items do there?

I was warning the antique collectible folks for years here that would set up their shop next to mine that the interest for such was going to collapse as each year those who were interested were dying. My prediction came true. I never focused on such, as I always focused on the idea of the item to sell is based on what you payed for it to give maximum negotiating room.

"How do vintage items do there?" A lot of the items are over priced for the most part, I tend to gauge that on prices I have paid over the 8 years of being here.
I only bought a bar of natural soap and 10 old bank notes, I paid half as much for the 10 as I did a 100 new out of date bank notes 3 years ago.
I asked about a small Fiat auto sign and it was $650 yet last year maybe I could have picked one up for $70 or so.
The antiques have always been pricey at this market as they do it full time and move from town to town so can afford to hold items till they sell.

Clocks and paintings always fetch good money here, and the turn out yesterday was 30,000 people or more, hard to gauge, but it was busy for sure due to the nice weather, it was 25c and sunshine after midday.

The inflation will never end now, it is the only way to get people to accept ubi and owning nothing. They can count me out.

I did a motorbike trip for 300 km with @world-travel-pro. It took us for freaking 7-8 hours so I’m not sure that was fun or painful. My a$$ still sore from yesterday haha.
