Concluding Combat

in poetry •  4 years ago

They're there again,
Pushing their way to the front of my mind,
I'm trying to force them back,
But they're so god damn hard to fight.
I don't want to go through,
That deep, dark place again,
And it's so fucking ridiculous,
That it's my demons that offer the greatest escape.
I have positive thoughts competing,
A battle commencing, a war in my head,
Some are fighting for life,
Some are fighting for death.
But when it comes down to it,
It is my will that chooses,
The decisions I make determine,
Who wins and who loses,
Right now it's the monstrous ideas,
That seem so appealing,
And I'm swaying towards the options,
That they are revealing.
They're telling me I can stop the torment,
End all the strife,
After all it's easy enough,
To end ones life.
