Water Softener Installation and Benefits

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope everyone is well and happy. I haven't shared content for a while because I went on a 3-day Datça, Marmaris vacation with my mom and brother last week, but I tried to interact as much as possible during this time.

After returning from vacation, my work intensity started. Yesterday, I installed a water softener for the mains water of a customer's house. Excess lime and some metal cations in the mains water cause hardening of the water. This problem is solved with a water softener.

Water softeners have important advantages. Hard water has a higher boiling point. This results in higher energy consumption during water heating. Due to the limescale concentration in the water, limescale builds up on the parts of household electrical appliances such as heaters, washing machines and dishwashers. This leads to higher energy consumption and more frequent breakdowns of appliances. By using less soap, detergent and shampoo, more foam is achieved and cleaning materials are saved.

Water softeners should not be confused with purifiers because water softeners do not fully purify water. It softens the water by changing the ions that give the water its hardness and reduces the lime content.

The blue filters seen here are pre-counter filters. It reduces the lime content in the water up to 20% and prevents damage to the mains pipes and appliances in the house by retaining impurities such as mud, sand and mildew in the mains water. Pre-counter filters can also be installed just before the water entering the water treatment devices. It can also be installed on the faucets of devices such as washing machines and dishwashers, but there will be no need in homes where water softeners are installed. We have already installed them in front of the meter and in front of the water softener.

The water coming from the meter will first pass through the filter in front of the meter and then enter the water softener. For this purpose, I connected the meter water to the water softener by making a bypass. After the softening process, I supplied the water to the house network and made it ready for use. In order to make the maintenance of the device easier, I placed on-off valves at the water inlet and outlet points. I ended the process by leaving an additional valve so that the device can be canceled to enable off-device use when necessary.

During all these operations, no breaking or pipe replacement is required. According to the availability of the area where the mains water is supplied, the most suitable place can be selected, the pipes can be bypassed and the device can be installed. The process is completed. My customer will not only use water in a healthier way, but will also save energy and ensure that household electrical appliances last longer.
