The term "Grumpy Cat" is not actually a cat breed, but a nickname given to a particular cat named "Tardar Sauce". Tardar Sauce was born in 2012 with a rare genetic condition called "feline dwarfism", which gave her a distinctive appearance of having a constant "grumpy or sour" expression on her face.
Tardar Sauce became an internet sensation when a photo of her was posted on the social news website Reddit in 2012. Her popularity grew rapidly, and she became known as "Grumpy Cat" due to her distinct facial expression. She quickly gained a large following on social media, and her owners created an official website and merchandise featuring her image. The owners must of earned a significant amount of money over the years, that's for sure!
Sadly, Tardar Sauce passed away in May 2019, but her legacy lives on through various Cat related products, and media appearances. Years later, many amusing memes still continue to circulate online. While Tardar Sauce was not a specific cat breed, her appearance was just the result of a genetic condition that is not related to any particular breed.
As mating has continued (over the last few years) there are now many of these Cats in the World. I don't know exactly how many, but a family friend owns two of these specific Cats named Clara & Bella. If I remember correctly it's Clara who is featured in all the photos (below). Whenever I visit the house she loves to play and run around their garden. She is really adorable ~ JUST SMILE 😻
