Personally, I have never tried growing potatoes in cloth bags! However, as you can see in the progress photos (below) it seems to work well. Margaret tells me that she has been growing them this way in bags for the last few years. as it is much less hard work in harvesting the crop. Just open the bag LOL
Runner beans will naturally grow up bamboo canes, as they are climbers. You can make a kind of circular "wigwam" with the canes if you so desire. This method works very well if you don't have much space in your garden.
Margaret grows a lot of veg, which is often too much for her to eat alone. So I'm looking forward to getting some "freebie veg" from her, hopefully in a few weeks!
