Hidden within the vibrant streets of Walthamstow, London, lies a mesmerizing and whimsical treasure trove known as God's Own Junkyard. This captivating destination has earned its reputation as a neon wonderland, where discarded signs and salvaged fragments come to life in a breathtaking display of art and creativity. Only open to the public on Friday - Sunday this is must-visit attraction for art lovers and especially content creators!
God's Own Junkyard was conceived and brought to life by the late neon artist Chris Bracey. With a background in creating signs for London's seedy Soho district and a passion for collecting discarded neon signage, Bracey began amassing an impressive collection of illuminated wonders. What started as a personal hobby soon evolved into a legendary neon sanctuary that now attracts visitors from all over the world. The warehouse also boasts a cafe where you can grab food ( mostly greasy spoon style cafe food), coffee or an alcoholic beverage. They are very tolerant of influencers and tourists wondering around for ages taking photos all over.
God's Own Junkyard is not merely a chaotic mishmash of neon signs. It is a meticulously curated collection of art that showcases the talents of Chris Bracey and other acclaimed artists. Each sign tells a story, embodying a slice of London's history, nostalgia, and popular culture. From vintage movie signs to iconic symbols, religious imagery to vibrant pop art, the eclectic mix of styles and themes invites visitors to immerse themselves in a visual symphony of neon mastery.
I made some creative shorts I’ll pop below and felt like I was in a music video! I realise that I’m maybe not uploading the best quality due to YouTube compressing and I’m going to start trying to make my shorts in cap cut first from now on. But anyways here are some pics and videos of this incredible place!
