Dear my friends
do people living in your country consume chili? Yeah where I live chili is one of the commodities that is very much needed, almost 90% of the food sold in the market certainly contains chili without exception, a few months ago in Indonesia the purchase price of chili in the market reached a fantastic price of $ 8 for one kilogram .
Although the amount of chili needed by the market is very high, there are very few people who cultivate chili, because basically cultivating chili is not an easy matter and can be done by anyone, someone who wants to cultivate chili, they need special skills so that the chili yields are harvested satisfying.
if you go to Indonesia, you will find various types of chili that are cultivated by residents, and of course each type of chili has its own difficulties in caring for it, so don't be surprised if you meet some farmers while stroking their chests and saying "I failed to harvest", it showed that the farmer had run out of ideas for growing chilies. This means that chili is one type of plant that is very difficult to grow.
The type of chili in my garden is "siling labuyo", this is one of the rare types of chili and has a small fruit size but it has a very spicy taste when compared to other chilies.
I am interested in cultivating this type of chili because it can last a long time even if it is not put in an ice box, if the chili that you can easily find in the market can last for 4 days before spoilage occurs, then my "Siling labuyo" can last up to 10 days in the market under extreme weather.
10 days is a fantastic number for vegetables, if you have ever worked as a greengrocer I think you know for sure a fantastic number.
I took pictures of several parts of my chili plant, actually they have all entered the harvest period, because "Siling Labuyo" must be harvested before it is ripe, this is to adjust to market demand which in Indonesia, residents use siling labuyo in their dishes which are still colored green.
for the last part if you are a farmer and want to cultivate siling labuyo, then you can make your own seeds, it's easy, you just need to let the pumpkin siling be red (ripe), after that you pick it and then you fermentation it (put it in a plastic / bottle water) for 7 days so that the outer skin rots. after all that you have done well then you can split the chili and take the dark black seeds.
Siling Labuyo is a type of cayenne pepper
Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens) is a fruit and plant belonging to the genus Capsicum whose fruit grows towering upwards (ngathur, Jw.). The color of the fruit is small green when young and when it is ripe it is dark red. When pressed the fruit feels hard because the number of seeds is very much. He cannot be separated from street snacks, namely fried foods, he is usually eaten with raw young cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper has two major varieties, namely green cayenne and white or red cayenne. What is often used for fried snacks is the green cayenne variety, while white cayenne is usually used as a cooking spice or disambal. It is possible that the white cayenne variety is the result of a cross. Cayenne pepper is not only found in Indonesia, but also grows and is popular as a cooking spice in other Southeast Asian countries. In Malaysia and Singapore it is called chili rice, in the Philippines siling pumpkin, and in Thailand phrik khi nu. In Kerala, India, there is a traditional dish that uses cayenne pepper and is called kanthari mulagu. In English he is known as Tabasco chili pepper or bird's eye chili pepper.Cayenne peppers change color from green to red when ripe. Although it is smaller in size than other chili varieties, it is considered quite spicy as it reaches 50,000-100,000 on the Scoville scale.[2] Cayenne pepper is usually sold in markets along with other chili varieties.
